About us

The Ely Hotel is one of our much-loved properties. So expect home-from-home comfort, a warm welcome, great hospitality, and full hotel service. Believe or not, this hotel was built with the proceeds of a bet! In 1865, a racehorse called Ely won the prestigious Ascot Gold Cup. The hotel was then named in their honour by the delighted racegoer. You’ll find it’s still a sure bet for a fabulous stay.

ABOUT THE HOTEL

The Ely Hotel, Camberley, is a wonderful rural hotel, full of rustic charm, but one that offers a modern hotel stay and a great night’s sleep. It’s ideally situated to make the most of the surrounding countryside and attractions and has excellent transport links into London.

Outside, you’ll find a large car park for guests and a striking exterior with a half-timbered portico. Inside, you’ll step into an elegantly furnished hotel with plenty of period features blended with modern hotel amenities. All of the rooms are en-suite and have large, comfortable beds, flatscreen TVs and free Wi-Fi. They’re ideal for relaxing and catching a restful night’s sleep. The hotel is also a dog friendly hotel with rooms especially set aside for accommodating four-legged friends.

MAKE THE MOST OF YOUR STAY IN CAMBERLEY

The hotel is perfectly placed for exploring Surrey and beyond, where you’ll find plenty to entertain and keep you busy. Lovers of the great outdoors can stretch their legs along the River Wey and Godalming Navigation walks or take a trip to Castle Bottom National Nature Reserve. History buffs can enjoy Farnham Castle Keep and Waverley Abbey, whilst Farnborough International Airshow, Bird World and Thorpe Park are all within easy reach. As is the celebrated Ascot Racecourse, from where the hotel’s name derives.

UNWIND WITH A DELICIOUS MEAL OR DRINK

You can enjoy a traditional British pub and restaurant just minutes from your room. The restaurant serves freshly prepared meals from breakfast or brunch, through to light lunches, pub classics and seasonal specials, all at great prices. The bar is also well-stocked bar with cask ales, fine wines and coffee to refresh you after your journey or busy day out.

Burns Supper tonight. Every course was faultless, amazing quality and taste. Party of 4 we all tried something different and could not fault anything. On top of the great food we were served be efficient and pleasant staff, particularly a gentleman but didn't catch his name. Cosy, warm with lovely atmosphere, definitely a return visit on the cards. Thank you lovely evening

I have recently had lunch at the Ely with a friend and Sunday dinner as a group of 9. The food was delicious, well presented, hot and reasonably priced and the staff were delightful. Nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely recommend

6 of us went for dinner with two young children (to celebrate their birthdays) and we had a really lovely time. Helen looked after us so well and paid special attention to the birthday girls. We’ll be back soon!

Attractive Chef & Brewer pub. Went as a group of 7, mainly elderly, to celebrate a birthday. Got drinks quite quickly (though 2 not quite as ordered) but the rest of the service was rather slow, we had to go & ask someone to take our order after waiting 20 minutes. We had booked our table & arrived in good time. The food, once it arrived, was generally good though the smothered chicken was a bit over-cooked & dry. We were a bit disappointed that almost half the desserts on the menu were unavailable, though we were only told that once we ordered, not when the menu was brought over.

I went to the Ely with 5 friends for a Christmas dinner. The room we were sat in was nice and quiet, so we were able to hear ourselves chat, which was great. Even as the evening got busier, it didn’t spoil the atmosphere for us. However, it was very clear how rushed / under pressure and busy the staff were. We had to wait a good while between each course and our drinks orders were forgotten a few times. It also took a while for our plates to be cleared after the meal. It may have been that they were under staffed, which is a shame. One of the bar staff was quite rude to one of us when he got her drink order incorrect, but other than him the rest of the staff were all very friendly, despite being super busy! The food was nice, although the Christmas pudding dessert that my husband ordered wasn’t 100% what we expected. It was very small! All in all, I would definitely like to come back to the Ely and try their normal menu, on a day that’s less hectic for them.
