Oh my, what a delight from the minute you step into the building. You're met with such a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The hotel has an old word charm mixed with a modern twist. The log fire added a cosy feeling. We had lunch of scallops and fishcakes, both of which were delicious. The staff fussed over our dog and provided treats and water for him. Our only regret was we were not staying in the hotel.... we will be back.
What a great place, a traditionally run hotel, so much better than the corporates and excellent value with a proper breakfast included, all the staff were first class as was the dining, they must be doing something right as the restaurant was full on a Monday night. I travel around the country for 4 months of the year, staying a couple of nights in each hotel and it was really nice to stay in this very welcoming establishment, my dog loved it as well
A great place to stay. Our room was spacious and spotlessly clean, the bed was nice & comfortable and the bathroom with a walk-in shower was nice too. They offer a very good choice of vegan dishes on a dedicated menu and Amy was extremely helpful in making sure everything was right for us. All the staff were polite, respectful and always happy to help. Thank you very much.
We were warmly welcomed when we arrived by the very friendly staff. Checking in was easy and we were shown up to our room by the manager. The room was a good size with a view out over the side road, bathroom had a nice big shower and everything was clean and tidy. The rooms could possibly do with a little TLC here and there but they were clean and the bed was comfortable, certainly nothing that would put me off staying. Breakfast was very good with the hot breakfast cooked to order, the eggs (poached or scrambled) were the best I've had in a while - lovely yellow yolks. We ate in the bar the first night (pizza and chips to share) and the food and service was good. The second night we booked into the dining room as part of the DB&B deal. The food was very good and all plates were cleared. Service was very good apart from the bread not arriving until I'd eaten all my terrine, but I still enjoyed it. Although a number of staff were quite young and not very experienced, they made up for this with their positive and friendly attitude. Would I stay again - definitely.
We arrived at the Buccleuch and were immediately welcomed and offered a selection of drinks whilst we decided what we'd like for lunch. The restaurant was very clean and tidy and we went into the room at the front of the establishment, which was light and sunny. The menu gave us a fabulous selection of dishes and we felt very pampered in the beautiful surroundings. Our food arrived and it was stunning to look at and delicious to taste! The portions were very generous and we all enjoyed our meals very much. The puddings on the menu all looked super and we all chose the same one - no one could resist the profiteroles! It was a really wonderful experience which we shall repeat very soon. A fabulous venue with great food and brilliant surroundings! Many thanks for a wonderful lunch!
