Lovely pub, very good pub style food. (Stickytoffe pudding could be improved) main course was delicious. Nice atmosphere with two sections, wood burning fires old beams and great history.
Have dined here a couple of times and the food has always been top tier, spent the night in the Knots of May room and can honestly say that my wife and I felt soo cosy after a 3- course Christmas meal and drinks. Will be staying again next December!
Food was good but not great, I would have expected more for the money and the food wasn’t as hot as I would have liked. Don’t get me wrong, it was nice but over £30 for a starter, main and soft drink was a little on the expensive side. Venue wise, it’s lovely, parking was OK. WiFi needs addressing as it was slower than the extremely patchy mobile coverage. Staff were very nice but had to ask for condiments which came in those horrid sachets.
There were not enough vegetarian options. I just don't find the menu that good. Prices were very good. The food I had was nice. (burger) but we were basing on the sample menu which was actually good for vegetarians. When we asked if they could do something else. It was a flat no. You need to cater for different tastes. It is quite a small menu.
Came here for a Sunday lunch and was sadly disappointed. Used to have a great reputation for food. The service was slow and the young girls serving seemed very disinterested. We waited over 3/4 of an hour from taking the order to the food arriving. The Pork was ok, but for the price there was not a lot on the plate. My wife had the beef, and she had just two small slices and it was very tough. Also her veg was underdone. Friends we were with had to ask 3 times for them to bring another drink to the table. The puddings were also disappointing, they had run out of vanilla ice cream (a basic commodity) but still offered the sticky toffee pud with it until we pointed out, that they said it was all gone. They just seemed very lackluster. Overall, the food was edible, but overpriced. The service was poor, below average, but the location and the history of the pub is nice. Sadly, I won't be rushing back.
