The Roebuck Inn is an historic coaching inn with rooms, in the heart of the Sussex countryside where the South Downs meet the woodlands of the Sussex Weald.
We have an extensive range of beers with an emphasis on Sussex Brewers, ably supported by the best small brewers from further afield, and a daily changing menu incorporating wonderful local ingredients, many supplied by our neighbours in the village. All our meat is free-range and we offer an extensive choice of vegetarian dishes. Food is served all day between 12 noon and 9pm Monday to Saturday, and 12 noon until 6pm on Sundays.
Sunday lunch time birthday visit with 4 adults and 2 babies. Staff were friendly and helpful, although not too attentive. Lunch was huge and we took half of it away. It was delicious but it wasn't hot enough really. We didn't say anything as we were pretty hungry and distracted by the kids when it arrived. Will definitely go back
Warm and cosy with lovely log fires - there is a large barn function room which was beautifully decorated for Christmas- really welcoming staff - good service - the food was disappointing- we had the Christmas menu at £34 for 3 courses, my beetroot and goat cheese tart had no goats cheese and a teeny tiny amount of beetroot- the turkey was delicious however the roasties went soggy with all the rest of the meal piled on top of them the sprouts were so hard I don’t think they even saw the boiling water and finally the profiteroles were mainly still frozen - in fairness to them they took off 10% removed the service charge and gave us complimentary coffees - however that was our girls get together for Christmas so disappointing
Had lunch in the pub last weekend with family. Friendly welcome and served immediately at bar for drinks. Cosy table in a corner which was handy with a young nephew. Had an enormous portion of battered cod & chips. Only slight comment would be to let the oil drain a bit more from the fish as there was quite a bit on plate. Others had pies which went down well too.
Had an amazing lunch at the Roebuck on a Saturday afternoon. Excellent home cooked food (huge portions). Friendly staff and a good choice of drinks both soft and alcoholic. Nice garden with play area and an open fire for cosy cold days. A little more pricey than some pubs but definitely worth it. We had pie of the day and Sussex smokie.... Perfect.
Not impressed. Food average at best. £16.50 for crispy chill beef in the same size bowl as my 2 year old granddaughter’s kids meal. Items missing from the rib meal. Had to have mash with chicken supreme! No atmosphere, and overpriced. £90 lighter- won’t be going again
