About us

THEATRE BAR & GIN BOUTIQUE

Our small and luxurious little bar brings a touch of the plush glamour and glitzy show business of the West End to Brighton. Both our exterior and interior are like stepping back in time to Georgian Brighton. Be sure to check out ‘Willie’ the famous mannequin in the window and our inside walls are adorned with theatre memorabilia.

Located right next door to the famous Theatre Royal, often our customers include theatre-goers as well as actors and stage-hands who take advantage of our proximity for pre and post show drinks.

If further encouragement was needed to visit us, our focus on gin should do the trick! We have an extensive selection of gins and are specialists in this area, read more below on our love for this beautiful drink.

This bar was closed for months to “refurbish” only to end up being miles worse? The curtains removed, the interesting carpet removed and a bland replacement fitted, all the interesting articles on the wall removed, wall painted a single dull colour as apposed to the vivid selection present before the refurb, and for what? The drinks selection has also been reduced - ale pumps removed, less whiskies and other spirits All in all, a genuinely dreadful refurb. This bar went from a unique, interesting, historic establishment to a bland, soulless premise that is a shadow of its former self. Sad!

Dull as dishwater. What on earth have the owners done. They took something that was the heart and soul of Brighton and sucked all the personality out of it. Now it's just a bland box pretending to be something it used to be. The George Lazenby Bond of pubs. Avoid, go somewhere else, support real local businesses.

Oh no, what have they done to this (formerly) wonderful gem of a pub! Popped in last night and my heart sank. Soul has been ripped out of it. Now feels like a student union rather than an historic cozy boozer. All the real ale pumps have been removed too. How can you have such a treasure and then think doing what they’ve done to it is a good idea!! Gutted!

JULY 2023: CURRENTLY CLOSED DUE TO REFURBISHMENT. A truly lovely bar full of ambience. Extremely relaxing with a great variety of drinks. The gin selection is particularly good. Next door to the Theatre Royal it is a great place to have drinks before a show but also a lovely place to just relax. Many performers usually have a drink in this bar at the end of their performance so many famous actors from TV and movies have visited here.
