Loved this place, especially the staff, who efficiently dealt with a customer who took a swing at a customer because they had spoken above the music. Sorry, but this is NOT a concert venue. In pubs we do not expect talk to stop. This is a great, social pub where talk is de rigeur, and at a volume to be heard above background music.

I arrived in a bit of a panic trying to find a place that had wifi where I could work for a few hours (and do an interview) and Sarah-Jane (I think the manager) was super helpful. I ended up staying all afternoon and had a couple of drinks after. It's a lovely, cosy, local feeling pub and the prices are really reasonable for Brighton. Thank you for all the local recommendations and fantastic service. I will absolutely be coming back!

Hi Lilly, We're saddened to hear you felt discriminated against. That is not how we run our pub as we always aim to be inclusive and respectful of everybody. Unfortunately, we do have CCTV footage of your group bringing outside drinks into the establishment, which we asked you not to drink on-site (only to be ignored). If that was the only issue, however, we would not have asked you to leave. Our alcohol-free options are extensive and not limited to only orange or tomato juice. One of your party did throw up on the table, which was a shame, but it wouldn't have been a reason to kick you out if they weren't laying face first on it. We asked you to leave for the two reasons stated above, as they're breaches of both our licensing objectives and our duty of care as an establishment. We'd hoped this would be it. Not more than 5 minutes later we then see one of you, once again on CCTV, sticking what we later identified as a soiled sanitary pad on one of our windows. We do believe the costumers is always right, but sadly, that's not the case this time. You're welcome to come in and discuss this with us further, if you wish to do so. Kind Regards, Sarah Nixon Licensee and Assistant Manager

I really wish I could leave a kinder review, but I would be lying if I did. We booked a table for 7-10pm well in advance, and basically as soon as we had arrived an employee who was not on shift (as she loudly discussed with employees behind the bar) was constantly ushering the group I was with to buy drinks or leave, and so we asked if they had anything non-alcoholic for the non-drinkers and those of us who were simply waiting for the rest of our group who had not yet arrived. To be clear, we had booked here specifically for alcohol-free options, (because that is what Google had told us they had), as it is Monday night and we are all students. The ‘alcohol-free’ options in question were orange juice, tomato juice, and water, and so a member of the group ordered some orange juice while we waited. When the rest of the group did arrive, they had not even sat down before we were very promptly asked to ‘move on’. While at the table somebody with freshers flu threw up. It was unfortunate, but we offered immediately to clean up and take her home. We were instead berated, accused of all being drunk (which is simply and blatantly not true) and frankly felt shamed. I am disappointed because the place looked lovely, we were discussing what drinks we were going to get but we were not welcome at all. We had hours left of our booking and were told that “the table was needed”, with a complete disregard for the fact that our group size had doubled and we were preparing to buy drinks. I can only believe that this treatment was given to us because one member of our group is visibly disabled with a cane, we are students, and we openly discussed that we are all autistic. It was really sad to experience this in Brighton, particularly with so many reviews praising how lovely and inclusive the place is. Presumably this inclusivity does not include those with disabilities. I can only hope that others who go here are treated better, but if you’re not disabled, you probably will be anyway.

The most welcoming little bar in all of Brighton, with a local clientele and terrific friendly fun service. Indoor and outdoor seating with everything you could need to spend hours in the sun tanning it right up or chilling inside or out the back in the garden... And how good is the music!!!Thanks for a wonderful time guys, see you soon!
