Great pub. Nice selection of gins. I would definitely go again.
Cheapest proper pub in town (obviously not including Wspoons) nice crowd, nice atmosphere, less than £4 a pint of decent beer. Good sports coverage, friendly and a great pub.
Some staff can be a bit slow and surly but most are friendly and quick to serve. The beer and cider prices are very good and they show Sky Sports and BT Sports. Seating is extremely limited and there is not much standing room. Door staff aren't very good, one refusing to let me back in to get my scarf I'd left because "they were full" despite there being space. Had to knock on the window to signal to a customer to bring it.
We popped in here last night with some friends their daughter and her friend following a meal at the ivy. The 2 girls went to the toilet together and the security guy followed them straight in and was incredibly rude. He told them they had to leave the pub. They explained that they were out with their mum and dad but he became more and more aggressive. We asked what was happening and he said they had a zero tolerance policy, (this is to them going into the cubicle together which many young girls do) there is no sign to say that anywhere and the bar staff said they are going to get some signs. As this is currently not in place surely he should have just informed them of this policy and if they did it again, then ask them to leave. After trying to reason with him we all chose to leave, as he was becoming more and more irate, verbally insulting us, threw a drink in the road and started calling my husband playground names. I have never met anyone so unprofessional, it was shocking.he literally was shaking and looked like he wanted to hit someone. I don't normally leave reviews but what I witnessed last night was outrageous behaviour.
Popped in after theatre on a wet Thursday night. Didn't fancy any of the pubs we passed from North Street as crowds trying to get in or queuing and saw across the road what looked like an ordinary pub and we were well pleased with our find. Friendly welcome and good beer in a very convivial pub with great atmosphere - a great place to end an enjoyable evening.
