About us

The Dyke’s End at Reach lies at the northern tip of the Devil’s Dyke, a remarkable defensive earthworks of anglo of Saxon engineering which marked the border between East Anglia and Mercia. Some seven miles long, it is a popular walk and hikers and ramblers in need of refreshment invariably find their way to the pub after experiencing the chalkland beauty of the Dyke.

Originally called the Dyke's End and subsequently the King’s, the pub reclaimed its memorable name in 1999 when the village bought the freehold rather than see their only pub close.

The Dyke’s End at Reach, along with the church and the Village Centre, faces the Fair Green and finds itself at the heart of village life as well as being a destination for people who travel some remarkable distances to enjoy our excellent food and wines. It is the kind of pub that is hard to find in an industry dominated by pub companies and greedy breweries.

Things that you will not find here are paper serviettes, sachets of ketchup, alcopops, games machines, or micro-waved food from chilled-van suppliers. Instead, we offer candlelight, a glowing fire (when needed), scrubbed tables, mismatched linen napkins, affordable high quality cooking from our accomplished award winning chefs and a well-kept cellar.

We look forward to welcoming you to the Dyke's End at Reach.

Went for a drink on a cold winters night. No fire, although it was lit once we arrived, good beer and friendly service

Beautiful pub in a lovely setting. Delicious Sunday roasts. Everything was perfect and puddings were amazing too. Great atmosphere. Definitely plan to return.

Lovely beautiful pub. We come to collect an umbrella and stayed for a drink or 2. Lovely sunny beer garden and very friendly owners. We didn't eat but the menu looked devine. Will come back for again.

A real pub with good real ale and friendly staff. The Haddenham EasyRiders International Cycling club held their Black Tie Awards Dinner there in 2013 and a jolly good time was had by all. Sorry about the singing. Food was excellent. Well had to update my review, what a great little pub. Beer excellent, food was really good not overpriced and a great choice. The Haddenham Lazyriders, the retired cyclists went there for a Wednesday lunch. Had a fantastic time . Weather misty rain, but the warm real fire, real ale, and real food. Excellent.

Just had a really lovely home-cooked lunch here. A great pub for a small village and a beautiful location. This place would be worth the 7m walk to the northern end of Devil's Dyke walk.
