This is not a 5 star hotel but i give it a 5 star review. It is great value and the staff are incredibly helpful. What they do they do very well. The Friday evening two person fish and chips for £15 total is amazing value. Rooms are relatively basic but very clean with comfortable beds. Highly recommend as a good value overnight stay.
Great location. Rooms very clean and quiet as at the back. Continental breakfast but with lots of choices. Staff very pleasant.
Good value for money, rooms are comfortable, well equipped, good standard of cleanliness (although the TV remote was dirty and needed cleanin) with parking outside room. Check in procedure was quick, friendly and professional. The breakfast is continental self-service. Unfortunately whilst we were there one of the loafs of bread was moldy, when a guest brought this to the attention of a member of staff they just left the loaf on the counter. I also have concerns cheese & cold meats being left out unchilled for 2 hrs. This was the second time we have stayed at The Maypole, and last time we mentioned the light coming through the small glass panels in the door in the morning. Since then the doors have been replaced, but why they were replace with glass doors I don't know, this has made the problem worse. To try and solve the problem a blackout blind has been installed, but this blind only covers 3/4 of the door, why weren't solid doors installed 🤔 There are some easy wins that would've increased the rating, as previously I have given 4 stars
Food smashing, staff friendly, service fast. We two pints of soft drink my wife was driving and I'm disabled therfore the soft drink , two pints £9.40 what's about even if it was bottled lemonade .... expensed ! Doesn't promote the casual driver lead experience we were looking by going off the beaten track.
A traditional looking pub from the outside, but inside has been spoiled with modern clinical furniture, bar fixtures, and large screens for live sport. The restaurant is a modern extension, but was full of leaves covering the floor, which begged the question of when it was last cleaned.
