The new landlord (May 2013) has now introduce real ale now that he has settled into the establishment. Based in the centre of the town it is handy for dropping into while out shopping to enjoy pint and to take the weight off your feet. While the pub is now a single room it still retains the feel of having two rooms. The guest beer is normally from the Lymestone brewery. Grade II listed.
Really small place, and a typical real local. In terms of staff, drink range, dj on Saturdays, would give 4. However the punters it attracts, literally big gangs of mainly grown men, fully fitted with hoodie and caps can turn the atmosphere in five seconds, hence overall rating of 2.

This Grade 2 Listed Building, parts of which date back to 1600, is always worth a visit for any real ale lover. Traditional quarry tiled floors and friendly staff. Always a selection of local real ales on the pulls.
