The staff are individually very pleasant,and personable,but needing focus/leadership. The bar often has nobody dealing with bar orders,instead dealing with coffee/tea orders,or table orders via QR codes. I realise that most of the staff are very young,and probably in their first jobs,so need leadership (again) ! To my mind,at even relatively busy times,you need at least two dedicated bar staff dealing with counter service. This isn’t just ‘keyboard bothering’ , I like the pub/hotel ,and eat,drink there often,and want to give constructive criticism. But I have also walked out twice,having waited for service for ages.
We were honored to be the first wedding DJs at this incredible venue. The staff's professionalism and attentiveness made our experience seamless. The picturesque setting added a magical touch to the celebration, creating unforgettable memories for the newlyweds and their guests. Highly recommend this venue for its unique charm and dedicated team.
Amazing Christmas Day Meal for all 10 of our family. Thank you so much to all the team who made our Christmas day so enjoyable and stress free. Serving a 3 course meal to 6 adults and 4 children in a timely manner and piping hot is not easy. The food was delicious, service first class and the venue looked glorious with all the decorations. All the team looked after us really well and made us feel very welcome. Great day. Thanks again
We were a table of 4 visiting for coffee and snacks. Initially the staff were very friendly and welcoming but after we received our food no one came to check if everything was ok and this together with the food was a let down! Although initially sounding reasonably priced food my wife’s soup bowl was no bigger than a tea cup and bland in flavour with stale sourdough bread, my sourdough served with my terrine were sticks of bread more stale again than toasted plus our friends mushrooms on toast for £9 was again very ordinary and for the money could easily have stretched to 2 slices and a few more mushrooms also the baked eggs originally ordered were not available due to they had run out of the accompanying tomato sauce which is quite frankly very poor! Are they just “ding” and “ping” cooks incapable of running up a basic tomato diced with onion herbs and oil etc! Enjoyed the coffee and the ambience but the food was very disappointing plus when I asked for a glass of water I was told to help my self from a water station at the end of the bar!!
Met up with my family for Sunday Lunch. There were 8 of us and our dog, so we booked a couple days before. We were sat downstairs and served by a young guy who made sure we has everything we needed. He was excellent! One of my family wanted fresh strawberries with her ice cream… that’s not even on the menu but this amazing waiter made it happen!! The food was all delicious, a gorgeous ambiance and generally one of the nicest Sunday meet ups we’ve had!
