Restaurant only review - I’m still thinking about the steak and Guinness pie three days later. It was absolutely fantastic - fall apart beef and gravy was so tasty. Special mention to how crispy the pastry was. If you can get past the taxidermy on the way in this is a worthwhile stop for a meal. Staff were also lovely, a very homey feel on the whole.

The Drovers Inn is a historical place in a beautiful setting. We stayed a night and were absolutely shocked by the interior of the bedrooms. The bedding was clean, and the bed was comfortable, but it's seriously falling apart, and several bedrooms are not being used due to ceilings caving in. It can even be spotted from the outside. I think it was last decorated inside when Rob Roy was around. The breakfast was plentiful and tasty. The staff are fab, though. A nice friendly bunch. We'll definitely be back, but won't stay again. I'm glad to hear it's getting refurbished next year. It would be a shame to let it slip into ruin

Rooms where cold on arrival as the heating had been switched off and we had to set the electric radiator, damp and very dated with light switches held in with 1 screw and outer door lock plates missing etc etc Food was "tepid" all 3 courses and took 3 hours to be tabled the hotel did even appear to be anywhere near to capacity so no excuses. The manager said it should have been served at 70 degrees but as their was an issue in the kitchen it was about 51 degrees.. why would you admit that to guests ??? The langustin was, well more like small shrimps / large prawns and when the duty manager was advised his words where " yes very small ones" then walked away. 4/5 small pieces of pigeon breasts where so tough even the dog wouldn't eat them and his nickname is " garbage disposal " We never saw rooms in the main hotel so cannot comment on them. Having spoken to the General manager he was more than happy to take on the complaints and asked what he could do to improve service. In all honesty I advised I would not be happy paying the fixed price for any of the meals as all of us where completely underwhelmed and hungry for the rest of the evening. NO OTHER FOOD WAS AVAILABLE FOR THE REST OF THE EVENING 21:00hrs 03:00hrs. The entertainment was amazing the fireworks superb and the star of the visit had to be a young Lady called Amy who checked us into our rooms and nothing was a trouble for her... All in all the Buildings character is outstanding with settings to suit. The general manager explained that the Hotel was under new management and would appear they are updating and renovating the site. All said and done I'm sure I will return in the summer months and maybe - hopefully see great improvements. The fork was bent attempting to hold the venison long enough to cut it with the knife supplied, we had to ask for steak knifes to cut venison that should have melted when cut.

Always guaranteed a great night in here, great vibe and atmosphere and always ends up one big party talking to everyone. I love going here for an overnight. The food is also fab, I would travel here just for their steak and Guinness pie! Excellent service and staff can't do enough for you.

After staying for two nights including breakfasts and dinners a review was in order to account for the excellent experience we had. Firstly do not fear ending up in a room across the road unless intended so, the website is very straightforward and it’s obvious which room you are booking into. The room descriptions also specify whether you will have your own bathroom, so be sure to read the description before you select one to avoid making an arse of yourself. The food both at breakfast and dinner was delicious and the portion sizes were great, a good variety of Scottish options available. Amazed people have commented about sticking napkins in their dinner as that’s generally not done here in Scotland but certainly wouldn’t expect it to add to the dish. Would recommend if you don’t want a very small amount of oil on your fish batter you take it out to the bear in reception and have a yourself a salad instead of trying to get crafty with a perfectly good fish and chips. Having had eight different items off the menu we sampled a good amount of the food available, all dishes were well prepared and of a high quality. The menu offered something to suit everyone, including vegetarian options, and a menu authentic to an inn approximately 318 years old. Based in the mountains, there’s also a vast array of vegetation available surrounding the establishment if the menu does not take your fancy. A very cool old hotel with many original features intact, and great staff with a good sense of humour. We’ll be back.
