A franchise Sonnet 43 Brewery Tap & Restaurant serving locally-sourced freshly-cooked food on one side and three Sonnet 43 real ales. The pub was once well-known to locals as Dougie's Tavern, though before that was also The Royal Hotel when it was locally referred to as The White Lead due to the fine coating of lead covering not just this pub but many surrounding houses from the various metal workings in Jarrow & Hebburn. A spacious car park is within the fenced boundary of the premises, and the site offers level access. Bar meals and separate restaurant -.

Great food , fabulous friendly staff. Value for money eat in or tske away.
We visited today for my birthday dinner, this was my first and last visit at Dougie’s Tavern. We had a bad experience because and as a Punjabi family we know what a Punjabi thali should be like. It felt like all the food are ready made and heated up in microwave. Only the salad was fresh except the Butter Chicken, Lamb Curry, Chilli Chicken, Naan, Rice and vegetable dish we ordered. 👎
Amazing food cooked by top chefs, smashing atmosphere and a great afternoon/evening spent with family and friends. Food is fresh carvery with generous slices of beef, pork, turkey and gammon, fresh veg and plenty of it - Yorkie puds or mince n dumplings or steak pie - proper grub! Fair drinks prices served by lovely staff and entertainment is top class, great outdoor play area for kids and picnic benches to chill outside 😃 It's a little gem!
