This was our 4th visit here having had decent meals and service in the past . Saturday night was not a repeat of our previous experience. Unfortunately the starters were barely warm when they arrived and so they were sent back. The salt and pepper squid was still not hot when it was returned but we were too hungry to send it back again . They seemed to be very short staffed that night and waited over 15 minutes before we were offered a drink . My husband had to go and ask for someone to come and take our order. We witnessed 3 other tables having problems with their meals and food being carried off by the waiter . Our main courses of confit duck and lasagne were ok but not great . Again my lasagne was only just warm enough in the middle but it was a bit sloppy and not very appetising. I'm not sure we'll go back until we hear that the standards of service and food are much improved.
This was our second visit here.. Five of us visited.. The food was lovely.. Apart from the pie.. Which apparently should have been puff pastry but was very thick short pastry.. But was wolfed down by a hungry nephew.. That was the only negative.. I had the pancetta and red wine lasagne.. The flavour was awesome... Plenty of parking.. Service was excellent.. Would absolutely recommend. And would certainly visit again!!
We haven't been for a meal at The Fox & Hounds for quite some time. On arriving in the dinning area, I was impressed with how nice the decor was. The food menu was very good, a nice choice of dishes to choose from. We were a table of 4 and all thoroughly enjoyed our food and wine. I think it is very good value for money. We were served by Karen, JP and Russ all of which were friendly and attentive. We will definitely be returning...

Big pub in the country with indoor and outdoor space. Has that country pub feel about it. Menu is straight out the Chef and Brewer playbook with a good selection of classics and modern with veggie and vegan options. We had the No leaf salad with halloumi which was inventive and very tasty but not especially large which left space for dessert. A good Bakewell tart with custard and a rocking chocolate and Cornish ice cream Sunday with brownie definitely filled the gaps. About £25 each for 2 courses and a drink (May2023). Car park is large but remember you have to check the vehicle registration inside. Also if Google tells you to take the southern entrance don’t as you get your car scratched as they haven’t cut the foliage back, take the other entrance which is much wider.
