About
A recently restored 17th century Coaching Inn, The Dog and Gun in Netheravon is the most recent addition to the group and joined the family in April 2021. Still a thriving village local, you’ll find nods to the pub's former years dotted throughout the bar and restaurant. We think of it as a pizza pub because we managed to squeeze an oven into the main kitchen. The chefs love it, and on the menu you’ll find a range of pizzas (nole pizza) as well as things like stone-baked sole and a mixture of small plates; all of which complement a crisp pint perfectly. The offering at The Dog is cosy, relaxed and informal, which is something that the make-up of the pub really lends itself to.
The pub boasts six high-quality en suite letting rooms and the entire site was given a comprehensive and sympathetic renovation by our landlords before we took ownership. Sitting at the heart of the Salisbury Plain, the pub is surrounded by acres of open land. If it’s not being blown up by the military (avoid red flag areas), it’s a great place to have a wander and explore. There are parts that feel so remote you could be almost anywhere. Because of this, some local amenities are a drive away. That said, our food is great and our beer is plentiful, so really, what more could you ask for? GM Alex runs the show here and is also very involved in the kitchen. Alex has been with us for years now, but the Dog and Gun is his first GM position. He’s managed to reconnect with the locals and create a busy and vibrant space with a quality food offer.

We had a great overnight stay here. Arrived on NYE, and were greeted warmly! Room was ready, and had nice touches like fresh milk and homemade cookies. Pub was busy and fun on NYE with a modern drinks menu, special pub quiz and the food was really tasty. Starters were fresh and good portions, and pizza was tasty and well cooked. Would definitely recommend this place for a drink, food, or stopover!
Overheard someone singing the praises of this place - what a discovery! Excellent, imaginative food, ale brewed in the village and a real welcome in a warm environment with open fireplaces lit. Really well run.
The food and the staff here were amazing. The space itself is really cosy and inviting. We were staying in the village so it was just a short walk for us but there is a decent sized car park. The pub was dog friendly so we were able to take our dog to dinner with us. Furthermore, we found that the vegetarian options on the menu were delicious. We couldn't fault this place 💕
We had such a lovely stay at The Dog and Gun this past weekend! We were greeted warmly and shown to our room which was absolutely lovely and clean! We were pleased to find thoughtful touches such as ground coffee with a french press and fresh baked cookies from the chef. We had an early departure and the staff were exceptionally accommodating, delivering a continental breakfast to our room in place of the hot breakfast (which we were gutted we missed!) The pub itself was superb- from the attentive service to the delicious food! Very cozy place to unwind with a pint or glass of wine. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and we're just disappointed we had such a short stay!
We had a booking on a Sunday afternoon and it was lovely. The roasts were amazing, good portions and great quality. The team were very friendly and looked after our large booking including 4 kids and 3 dogs spectacularly. Can't recommend enough.

The Red Lion & Troutbeck are held together by very close team of around 20 vibrant individuals, supported by an equally dedicated group of village locals who have been instrumental in achieving RL success. And then there's Stowford, our springer-spaniel.
