A little difficult to get to, but well worth the effort. The welcome is warm and genuine and the food excellent. Its not a fast food place but somewhere that cooks food to high standard. Would suggest you precooked table for lunch. Lovely open fire, dogs welcome but don't expect 5g phone connection. Good selection of beers!
We had lunch here and the food was amazing. My husband particularly extolled the virtues of the steak and kidney pudding saying he'd never tasted anything like it and that it was a treat for his taste buds! All of the food we had was delicious, locally sourced and freshly made. We will definitely be back!
My son brought me here for a surprise birthday meal and the staff were absolutely lovely looking after us. He asked our waitress to recommend the dishes and we certainly weren't disappointed. This is definitely somewhere I would bring friends and family for special occasions. We didn't stay overnight in the hotel, we just came in for an evening meal. Parking can be a bit of a pain but the pub is in a really beautiful location.
Stayed for four days at the old coach house, coming from France, we spent few hours at the Duke of York. Very friendly place with wonderfull people. Napoleon ( our Jack Russel) loved to be there!!
This pub is a little gem and was recommended by our Airbnb hosts. It's obviously steeped in wonderful history but also the Sunday roast is by far the best we've had. I rarely order a roast in a pub as it's never as good as at home and normally disappointing, but decided to give it a go. It was so delicious, wonderful gravy, selection of veg and the meat was amazing. We all thought the same. Highly recommended this place but book for Sundays.
