A country inn in the heart of Bovey Tracey offering good food and award winning cask ales. The Cromwell Arms has been run by Tenants Gary and Julie Roberts for over 10 years .
Just a 5 minute drive off the A38, the Cromwell Arms is located on the edge of Dartmoor, the Gateway to the Moor. Offering easy access to endless countryside and attractions, it is a fantastic place from which to explore the whole region of Dartmoor, from the moors, tors and villages, to the beaches and seasides of Devon and the rest of the South West of England. Our location is an ideal stop over for holiday makers, a weekend break and/or a business trip.
Newton Abbot is approximately 5 miles away, making us a perfect place to stay over when the race course holds its meetings and for business customers who are visiting Heathfield. An early business breakfast is served from 7am Monday to Friday.
The 17th century oak beamed coaching inn is a family run establishment and having been recently refurbished, has 14 tastefully decorated and comfortable en-suite rooms. One of which is a family room that can sleep up to 6 people.
Our bar and restaurant offer a great range of cask ales, draught lagers and ciders, wines and spirits, as well as an extensive menu of fresh home cooked food to whet your appetite. We have FREE Wifi throughout, a lawned beer garden for those warm sunny days, two log fires to warm you on those cosy winter nights and a car park for approximately 20 cars.
So whether you are on holiday, on business or just passing through, a visit here is highly recommended. Dogs are welcome to stay too. Please telephone us in advance if you would like to bring them with you.

Highly recommend! Extremely polite and helpful team, great food with an extremely comfy room. Thank you The Cromwell Arms.
Lovely tender beef roast dinner, with plenty of perfectly cooked veg. Followed by a yummy creme brulee. Service excellent. Such a lovely, friendly atmosphere. Good parking. We shall be returning very soon.
Lovely pub and service. Matthew was very attentive and informative and just a joy to be around. Kept the fire topped up and made sure we were cosy and had everything we needed. We'll be back! Thank you xx
Booked a table for two on Christmas Eve. The whole experience was enjoyable - staff were friendly, nice atmosphere inside and the food was lovely. We decided on the Christmas menu, which didn’t disappoint. The portions were good sized, well presented and very flavoursome. We’ll definitely be visiting again.
Absolutely disgusting service, recently changed hands since last week, DO NOT GO IN THIS PUB, I booked a Christmas meal for my family 5 days before we arrived and was told by the very rude new owner "sorry someone else has taken it, generally we save big tables for others" my dad has rheumatoid arthritis and my dog has bad joints so we needed the space...it was a table for 4 and there was 3 of us, thank you for wrecking my family Christmas meal, we as locals will never go back and I will be telling people about this experience.... disgraceful
