Honiton's Answer to Platform 9¾. The Vine Inn Pub and Tearooms may be found at the end of Vine Passage. It's Honiton's equivalent to Platform 9¾ in Harry Potter. At one end is the bustling High Street of our special little Town, and at the other is the peaceful Oasis of the Vine Inn's Garden and it's Warm & Friendly Inn and Tearoom. The Vine is homely and unpretentious and renowned for its Home Cooked Lunches and local Otter Ales served from barrels behind the bar. Most folk prefer to sit in the Pub area and order from the Bar, rather than in the more Spartan Tearoom itself. Oddly, they don't serve Bacon or Sausage Sandwiches which would probably increase their business, so our preferred Breakfast/Brunch order is their Cheese on Toast, which is delicious and so very moreish. Tip - If you order a pot of Tea, always ask for a jug of Hot Water as well. The only negative is their good but overpriced Deserts at £7.25. The entrance to Vine Passage is between the Specsavers Shop and Desire Jewellers, but please keep it to yourself!
We arrived at the wrong time for food, but the people are lovely and the walk to get to it gives Mediterranean vibes with the potted plants. Would go again, my dog loved it.
Been to the tea room at The Vine several times. Always excellent. Beautiful garden tucked away from the high street. Photo was taken during September visit
Stumbled upon this place whilst looking for somewhere to have lunch ,it's a tea room and a pub down a small allay way the food was good and reasonably priced and the general service from all the staff was great will definitely back again when in Honiton
Had a lovely lunch (2 Coronation Chicken sandwich) and sat outside in the sun. Fresh doorstep bread and lovely big pieces of chargrilled chicken, and a couple of drinks. We've already been again and it won't be the last time. Definitely recommend. I'll try the cream tea next time.
