The former Hog’s Head opened in c1997, having previously been the Rock Machine, Churchills, No10s and Winstons. In 1958, it was the newly built Chevalier Tavern & Restaurant, roughly on the site of The Old Chevalier Inn, destroyed in the Blitz of May 1942. The inn had not been open all that long, having taken over Chevalier House. This local landmark was, in fact, a pair of town houses, built in the early 17th century, with elaborately carved wooden frontages.
Been coming here on and off for years never really spoke much to the staff but recently meet "Craig" new manager such a nice, conscientious guy! What a credit to this establishment and for whetherspoons, to have. Always good value for drinks and food as well. Definitely be coming here instead of avoiding for months like before because my recent experience was great!
Been here before wasn’t that great but came again last week and had such a different experience. Food was great and the staff were very friendly. Is now my new favourite spoons!
The food was uncooked and they didn’t have any veggies . We ordered nachos they got it without guacamole and didn’t even inform us. After that the pizza already came without veggies and then it was uncooked raw dough. Also the floors were sticky and the tables were very very dirty
The eggs served to us both were undercooked and runny, and everything on both of our plates was only warm! The condiments were not easy to find as they were on the other side of the room from the ordering counter and the hot drinks dispenser. There were only two tomato sauce bottles there, and both of them were almost empty, and there was no ordinary white sugar available! At the time of our visit at just after midday, there was no fish available! On the plus side, the meals with the drinks were reasonably priced. However, it would have been excellently priced if the food had been served hot!
Been here a number of times and its certainly improved over the last couple years. Spread out over three floors if you include the toilets. Which there are a couple options. One, which is typical wetherspoon style and involves a hike haha. The food is amazing! And i will have to have get up early more often for breakfast as the miner's benedict was simply delicious! Naturally finished off with a latte. Thanks guys.
