Excellent tasting food, presented well and good sized portions. Ate from the set lunch menu and would definitely recommend to others. Service and atmosphere also excellent. Looking forward to returning next month for Afternoon Tea.

We visited for my wife’s birthday booking via the online booking process which was easy enough to complete. When visiting we managed to parking outside, & on entry were greeted by staff who showed us to our tables, even managing to swap to another which we liked the look of more. For food starters we picked off the snacks, having the “cured meats” & “marinated olives”, both of which tasted great. For mains, we chose the “slow cooked pork belly” & “sea bass”, as you can see via the pictures presentation was on point, & both meals tasted great, excellent combination of flavours, & both definitely filled us, with both of us saying there was really no need to order separate sides of “roast chantenay carrots” & “winter greens”. For dessert, we had the “dark chocolate delice” & “Christmas pudding”, again presentation was spot on, & no complaints on taste. We had various alcoholic & non alcoholic drinks, all were tasty, & looked lovely. Staff were attentive, & available when required.

Stayed on a Sunday- rooms are a lot less expensive (£100 cheaper) due to kitchen closing at 6.30pm. Pub really busy when we arrived and food looked good. Noise from pub on sunday evening not an issue as it was closed when we returned at 10pm. But was awoken Monday morning at 6am by hoovering and chairs moving in the bar area below. Managed to get back to sleep and then a conversation started up- must have been either the kitchen or bar staff as they were talking about rotas etc. Then more furniture removal after 7am, to accommodate a large breakfast party. Take ear plugs if staying in rooms 1 to 3. Went down at 8.30am and had a 30 minute wait for breakfast after ordering. Bathroom sink so small that it was impossible to wash your face and I had great difficulty filling up coffee machine water reservoir. Same very small sink in room 6 too- but no noise disturbance. If I had paid the usual price to stay, then my review would have been much lower rated.

Food was nice. Portions were generous. Service a little on the slow side. I hate bills which come with a “discretionary service charge”, in all circumstances this is awkward for the customer if you do/don’t want to include it in what you pay. It’s more understandable with large groups but not for a family.

We went for Saturday lunch service. We were in the conservatory area. It's the second time that we have dined in this room and even though it wasn't very busy, again it was very noisy to the point where I couldn't hear my fello diners. The food was plentiful and tasty. We had 3 different people wsiting on, 2 were very good, one was less so. I think that the person concerned could do with some training. Our table wasn't cleared properly after our mains and they forgot about a dessert too. Would definitely recommend .
