About us

Welcome to the Alexandra hotel, a real ale oasis in Derby's city centre. We offer an ever changing selection of 6-8 guest ales from micro-breweries near and far plus the regular Harvest Pale from Castle Rock brewery in Nottingham (CAMRA National Champion Beer of Britain 2010). We also offer a large (50+) range of tasty bottled beers, a range of draught keg beers, 2 real ciders and most of the other usual things you'd expect!

We are indeed a hotel and have 4 en-suite Bed & Breakfast rooms available for let.

The pub’s freshly refurbished lounge is also available for private hire and has a capacity of 30-40. Whilst it’s free to hire you’re expected to buy some beer during your time there!

Food is available all day every day in the form of ‘made to order’ cobs and fresh local pork and huntsman pies.

Probably the best real ale selection in derby. Constantly changing beer selection with lots of interested and different beers. Also a good selection of ciders (mainly Lillys cider). The bar staff are all very welcoming.

Popped in for a couple of pints to pass some time and celebrate a win at Pride Park before the train home yesterday. Very busy but service was quick and efficient. Proper old school pub inside with a bar area plus a separate lounge. Excellent selection of drinks and even got some beers to takeaway from the extensive cam & bottle menu. Highly recommended in a match day if you are visiting Derby 👍

Great pub for real ale, very basic but who cares, the beer is really excellent and the clientele very sociable.

I popped in here for a couple of pints when I was visiting Derby. I was really impressed by the range of beers that were on offer. I had a nice chat with one of the regulars about football and his previous career(s). The atmosphere was chilled and friendly and the drinks were top drawer.

Great traditional 'proper' pub with a wide range of decent beers and no pretence, just good beer and friendly staff with a great atmosphere.
