About us

Nestled amongst rolling countryside, windy lanes and picturesque villages, The Pebley Inn will take you off the beaten track, transporting you to a world of rural charm.

Our warm and charming atmosphere is informal, and friendly that will instantly relax you with a good core of regular custom for both food and drink. Whether you are wanting a glass of wine sat by the fire with a bag of crisps or just a pint of local bitter then you won't find a more idyllic setting both inside and outside than at The Pebley Inn.

A Little Pub History

An old coaching inn built around 1770 standing on the ancient Sheffield-Newark-London turnpike and falls in the county of Derbyshire by only a few hundred yards. Evidence of a Blacksmith's shop and stone steps for mounting horses used to be visible and they were stables on the left hand side of the pub. There was also a sleeping area for the Ostler's (Stable lads who worked at the Inn.) The Pebley has been owned by two noted local families - De Rodes in the 19th Century, and Sitwells in the 20th Century. Sir Osbert Sitwell sold The Pebley to William Stones Ltd in 1947 and it then passed on to Bass in 1970 before regaining Freehouse status in 1991.

We had my 70th lunch party at the Pebley. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was great, especially as we had a large party and the place was busy with Christmas and new year customers. The pub itself has a nice atmosphere and is a lovely building. Finally it was very reasonably priced. Would recommend the Pebley very highly.

Popped in for lunch , and were not disappointed. The welcome was warm , and friendly . A dog friendly Inn which is always a +plus. The menu is varied , and opted for Steak & Ale pie , and a Beef stew . Both served fresh and piping hot , portion size was excellent value for money , and tasted delicious . Bar staff checked on the quality of our food during the meal - which was welcome. Cost and warm Atmosphere , and will return to try other menu options .
