Welcome to the Packhorse - a Proper rustic country pub.
This historic pub is regarded as one of the best in the Peak District. Situated just off the Monsal Trail, the pub is surrounded by some of the most striking scenery the Peaks have to offer. Settle down by the open fire or linger outside on sunny days to enjoy real ales and tasty food, locally sourced by the landlord. Muddy boots, kids and dogs are all welcome.
A lovely pub to stop after a walk in the peaks. The food was lovely and the staff were nice. We spent just over 60 quid for 2 mains, deserts, coffee and beers. We had the sausage and mash which was lovely and the veggie Sunday roast. We would definitely recommend both again. For dessert the poached pear was our favourite and the lemon tart came in a close second. The only minor comment is the beer came with a huge head but no big deal! I would definitely come back again. It's also dog friendly.
Fabulous meal here back in August. I ordered the BBQ beef short ribs - a HUGE portion, the beef ribs were delicious, loved the BBQ sauce and jalapenos loaded on the fries. The bacon was a bit much 🤣 but wow, decadent. Everyone else loved their meals too. Interesting decor, cozy vibe.
Delightful pub, with a great menu, all the food was delicious 😋 Also the staff were very friendly and excited about the menu
Great country pub. Excellent food, friendly service and reasonably priced. Lots of character too. I had the beef short rib and loaded fries and the sticky toffee pudding and both were delicious.
Stunning little pub with great food, kind staff and a venue that is welcoming. We had two different fish dishes both of which were tasty and a good portion size. There was also a varied selection of beers available and I particularly enjoyed the hazy IPA. We sat in the ample sized outdoor area which was also dog friendly. I'd highly recommend this pub for drinks or a pub lunch if you're in the area. With thanks to Vicky for being such a lovely host!
