Over promise and Under deliver !!! Having taken some serious consideration of a venue for my wives surprise 40th Celebration Dinner, with friends and family, I thought i had won a watch with booking the Dalmeny Hotel - How wrong could I be !! Whilst looking at various venues I leaned towards here for 3 reasons to be precised : *Private dining room ( can hold up to 40 I was told ) *Private bar ( will have staff to serve for the duration of the night I was told ) *Ability to play back ground Music via You tube/large Smart Tv. Coincidentally everything up to the event was of a standard you would expect, efficient, friendly, professional and then I pre-paid for all meals to the tune of £800, and you couldn't script it - after that, it was as if no one could give a toss !! With it being a surprise, naturally we were going to be last ones there, so on the evening of the meal, we arrived to establish they were 2 table placements short - YES THE BIRTHDAY GIRL did not have a placement for her own party !! To this end, I then query the mix up to which I am "challenged" by the shift manager in the middle of the room, on why and how, as his numbers definitely say 31, not 33. ( His mistake it was 33 after all ) At this stage, cracks are starting to appear, and in the midst of my frustration boiling over I go to reception to see if there is any kind of itinerary or walk through of what to expect or with me being last one in, further more I also paid for everyone's first drink on arrival, ( which was another £180) and I wanted to establish the process for measuring this, to my horror, I was "pointed" by another "blazer" in the direction of a young girl and told, she will know.......................I approach said young girl and all she was told was to open a tab, to my amazement the tab is now sitting at an unexpected £180, with various drinks, bottles prosecco all added to the "uncontrolled tab". At this stage, steams coming out my ears, but I will go along as I didn't want to spoil my wives night any further. I then proceed to put some background music via the TV, which was confirmed we could do, surprise surprise, the batteries had run out on the remote, to which I had establish myself with playing about with the TV !!! We then get them changed and to really rub salt in the wounds, the TV froze and we could not get it working or could I get anyone interested in trying to sort it, when i did go to the so called senior staff, they went hiding, and sent the young girl out with no available fix !!! As the meals started to come out, I noticed it was the same young girl doing the 33 meals, as well as trying to serve at the "private bar", now on 3 occasions we had to go to the main bar and ask if we can some sort of service as it was taken up 10 minutes to get a drink !!!!!!!!!!!! Shocking level of service.......Now let me be clear this was no slant on the young staff member, that young girl was ran ragged, and the senior staff need to take a look at themselves.......... Naturally I left my frustration to the following morning as I had a few drinks, so I went back the following day to share my awful experience and just how much they had ruined out night and by all means not lived to the expectation they had committed to. I spoke to a lad "Paul" I believe, who tried the usual staff shortage/sick card, which just doesn't wash - the reality is they committed to a level of service they are just no capable of delivering - BE WARNED!! There was also a wedding on that evening, and having already got my £1k in the bank, they couldn't give a toss about the level of service we got............ This is now over 7 days since my conversation with Paul, who assured me he would speak to his senior management team and "get in touch" after ruining my wives surprise birthday and low and behold...................................................NO RESPONSE - AN ABSOLUTE SHAMBLES. I gave you guys plenty of time to right some wrongs, but true to form, you over promise and under deliver !!!
My friend and I went for dinner to celebrate both our Birthdays. The food was lovely and we had great service from our Waiter Liam he was so friendly and pleasant nothing was too much bother. He's a credit to your company.
Lovely afternoon with friends. Lovely food and great service. Unfortunately teenage birthday party with girls running wild. Felt sorry for staff trying to control them while parents let it happen 😔
We came for a family Christmas meal..the food was excellent the staff were very accommodating as we had my assistance dog Lily with us.. particularly Andrew and Lynne nothing was too much bother and our party was very happy with the experience. The disabled toilets were great plenty of room to move around with the dog which isn't alwaya possible even in disabled toilets. We will definitely be returning it was a enjoyable relaxed experience not always with an assistance dog Top marks all round
Went for a family meal. First time there since restuarant had been refurbished, night and day from how it used to look. Lovely meal, great service, great setting. Definitely be back...
