Set on the quayside, overlooking the water, Custom House is a much loved piece of Poole Harbour’s heritage. Built in 1813, its graceful double staircase provides an everyday Georgian grandeur for all to enjoy.
We love to embrace Poole Quay and all that is wonderful about Harbour life. Since its restoration and conversion into a restaurant and bar in 1997, Custom House has continued to be part of Poole’s community.
Whether it be for Sunday lunch, a special event, wedding, or a casual lunch after a quay side walk, we seek to offer you warm hospitality and the very best of food.
Why not come and visit us down at Custom House!.

I highly recommend this bar. My wife and I had a fabulous Friday afternoon lunch here. Having perused many other eateries on the harbour front the delicious-sounding menu temped in us. We were not disappointed, we were greeted with a smile and sat at a lovely round table in the window. The room was light, with a welcome feel to it and tasteful decor. The service was friendly and efficient throughout the meal and the food was well presented and delicious. The only very minor negative comment I have is that my pint Doom Bar was served way too cold, it was the same temperature as the lagers. This was disappointing but the rest of our lunch was so enjoyable it didn't spoil the occasion and our whole experience was well worth 5 stars.
Absolutely loved it. Best mussles I ever had in the UK! Delicious and good portions! The team is really sweet and lovely, even clearing seagulls away in a funny and lovely manner to ensure you enjoy a nice hassle free meal and experience!
Despite going to Poole Quay nearly every weekend my husband and I had never been in to Custom House, we’re very pleased we finally did. It was lunch time and we hadn’t booked, we were greeted warmly by Nikki who told us food could be a 30 minute wait, we were fine with this as we wanted a drink anyway so offered to take any table they could spare, Nikki was very accommodating. We both ordered the Fish & Chips with minted mushy peas, it arrived in less than 15 minutes which was a very pleasant surprised and was delicious! The chips were so crisp on the outside and fluffy inside, the minted peas were fab and the batter on the fish was wonderful, it was fried but so crisp and non-greasy that it was as if it was oven baked… my husband and I agreed it was one of the best Fish & Chips we’ve had for quite a while… we are looking forward to coming back for a dinner next time and hope to be greeted by Nikki again, she’s so lovely.
Been coming here various times over the years and has never failed to deliver whether for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Nikki and her team give you a warm welcome and are very attentive. Tastefully decorated inside and plenty of outside seating should the weather allow. This visit was for an evening meal. Lovely to see a Grenache Rose on offer. Started with a sharing Charcuterie Board which was amazing, beautifully presented. Our mains were the Haddock and Chips and the Pork Schnitzel. Everything sensibly priced. Cannot recommend highly enough but if eating inside worth booking in advance to avoid disappointment.
This is a beautiful location for a meal at any time of day, I was here for breakfast and a walk along the harbour. Because of the location the price is bound to be a little higher. The staff were attentive and prompt. I had a small English breakfast and a cappuccino which came out first and was very nice, hot and strong. I was a little dissatisfied with the breakfast as neither the bacon nor beans were hot, they didn’t have that just cooked feel about them. But the portion and flavours were great. I didn’t complain directly, normally would but I was in a rush. Minor niggles and I would return
