We hope that you enjoy your visit to both Sedbergh and the Dalesman
A Family business started twenty five years ago saw a building - formally The Golden Lion - go through a much needed transformation and over the years has built up a reputation based on quality. In recent years the ground floor where the bar , restaurant and chase lounge are and the accommodation on the second floor have seen the same amount of investment with quality at the forefront of its agenda.
The Dalesman Country Inn enjoys the privilege of being a Freehouse and we try and show this through our ever changing range of cask ales , wines and spirits. We have five cask ale pumps which we change as often as possible but are asked to keep people's favourites such as Timothy Taylor , Old Speckled Hen , Black Sheep and Tunnel Vision whilst mixing other beers in such as Hobgoblin , Deuchars , Cross Bay , Wainwright , Crafty devil , Dizzy blonde and Cumbrian way.
Our food menu changes with the seasons and where possible all ingredients are sourced locally such as our lamb from Hebblethwaite - less than two miles away - we make our own ice cream and even make our own fudge and toffee for sale and biscuits for our guests in the bedrooms.

Crazy, overpriced food. Price doesn't match watch you should get in terms of quality. Sunday roast is like you would get in a weatherspoons. They think highly of themselves but the standard doesn't match... it's way lower.
Staff were lovely and welcoming to fit us in. Beer great and food nice but ludicrously overpriced. £29 for shepherds pie but that doesn’t include any veg- that’s just tight- £4 for single portion. If you order a steak you’ll get stung £4 each extra for a sauce and veg. The Ryanair of the pub trade, at least you can go to the loo for free, at the moment anyway 🤷♂️
Stayed here during our Dales Way walking trip and we have loved the stay there. Beautiful room, huge and comfy bed, it has been a perfect stay!
Nice pub with outside seating for a drink. I wouldn’t eat here again though. Food very was overpriced considering the average quality. For example, the new potatoes came with no seasoning or butter, just 4 boiled new potatoes (ordered as a side).
I visited this pub with my friend whilst visiting from Manchester. A lovely pub however a member of the staff was very rude and the food was priced ridiculously high for a very small portion. The menu is very limited and doesn’t cater for fussy eaters. We left the place hungry and had to grab a pizza. Wouldn’t recommend for the food but drinks sat outside the front were brilliant.
