The staff are lovely however i booked a large double room and got 2 single beds together with 2 single duvets the room need serious updateing , the door to the barhroom if your a dwarf your fine theres a large crack in the cieling of the bathroom and the radiator in the bedroom doesnt work, does not bode well when its -2 outside the little electric radiator supplied isnt enough to heat the room. This is not what i booked and is not worth what is expected to pay for i will definitely not be staying here again should have been a £65 quid a night at best not £134 off season ridiculous.
Second time my partner has taken me here for my birthday, was just as nice this time as it was the last. Bedrooms are lovely and comfortable, with a great view out of the window. High quality duvet covers and comfortable pillows. Rooms get cleaned every day with fresh towels provided. The toiletries smell amazing, last year we ended up purchasing some shower gel from the bar. We ate here 3/4 of the nights. The chef creates some amazing dishes, in fact, we went to a Michelin starred restaurant for my birthday and the meals cooked here are just as good, if not better! We had the lamb shank on the last night and the meat fell off the bone, it was the best cooked lamb we’ve ever had. Breakfast every morning included in the price, you can choose anything you want from the menu and it’s cooked fresh for you. The chef is also very accommodating to any changes you would like on your plate. We love the food cooked here and the comfortable/ cozy setting of the downstairs food area and bar. Food and drink are reasonably priced too. The young bar staff and waiters/waitresses are attentive and very friendly. The two young lads that served us during our stay were always on their feet and never seen on their phones (like you see a lot of nowadays). Even when it was quiet and only me and my partner were sitting having drinks, they’d always find something to do, the owners have employed some good staff. We’ll most likely be returning again :)
Stayed for 2 nights in a room above the bar/restaurant. Nice and peaceful, attentive staff. Great breakfast between 0830-0930. Had a lovely cheeseboard after an evening meal with the warm of a log fire
Fantastic beer garden space with a giant chess board. A good size car park. The menu has a good and varied selection. Our food was nice, which we ate outside in the sunshine. Great location - quiet and out the way of the busier hubs. Gorgeous area to explore.
Beautiful area. Rooms comfortable. Food is amazing, although some of typical pub grub, their presentation and service is really great. The lamb shank and lamb stew were outstanding. Dessert...apple crumble- a almost traditional favourite was fresh, I LOVE pavlova and not had for a long time....it was really great. Well worth another visit.
