Really nice hotel located just outside of kendal. The hotel is perfectly located for walks around the lake district and if that does not sound like your thing theres a really easy to follow canal walk just across the road! The hotel rooms was lovely and spacious and the in house restaurant and pub served some delicious food! The breakfast is totally worth it with a large selection!

We stayed here on New Year's Eve and had a fantastic time. The food was brilliant and they were wonderful in exchanging our starter because of the meat in the soup not being suitable for vegetarians. The band, The Thieving Magpies, were excellent but just too loud for the room they were in.

Didn't stay here, but was at a family Christening party. Great venue. Very spacious inside & good bar service which was downstairs. They have lifts for people who have disabilities which was great. Great for the kids especially the young ones, play area provided in the room we were in.

Warm and alluring atmosphere, decorated with tasteful twigs and twinkling fairy lights that carry a certain ethereal charm. Staff were very smiley and generous, even going so far as to bring half a cucumber to nibble on, as my company said it was a favourite snack of hers. The chefs were happy to cater to my specific dietary requirements which was a unique, refreshing and comforting experience. The mulled wine was served from a state of the art machine which was particularly impressive. All in all, a wonderful visit and I look forward to my return.

We live quite close to this place and visit occasionally. This time the food was actually probably the best we have had there. The place was quiet meaning i was at one point listening to the staffs private conversations. Not a massive issue but perhaps not completely professional. HOWEVER, they have introduced a new tipping system which is almost forced on you. When you pay on card you are faced with 3 tipping percentages. I think this was 10, 12 and 20 percent. That's your total choice on the screen. I don't mind tipping but do so out of MY CHOICE. I dont think it should be forced. This has cost 2 stars and us not returning again. After speaking to other locals they are doing the same. Perhaps this is why they were quiet.
