If you value your well earned money, DO NOT eat here. We spent almost £80 on 4 main meals and soft drinks and were massively disappointed. Myself and my daughter ordered Cumberland sausage with champ and oven roasted root vegetables tossed in butter. Instead, I received smash mash and a few pieces of hard, bland boiled swede! My other daughter ordered the lamb shank, again to be served with creamy mashed potatoes and roasted root veg. She also received smash mash and a couple of slithers of celery and carrot, obviously from the stock it had been cooked in. My partner ordered Lancashire hotpot that tasted and smelt sour. We raised our concerns and it was taken back to the kitchen but we were told it was just the recipe. I am yet to place an ingredient that could cause an already strong flavoured meat, to taste/smell so rancid. In all fairness, he was offered a replacement meal but by then, the damage was done. The only silver lining was the warm, friendly waitress serving us (slim lady with really dark hair), she couldn’t do enough and was really professional when handling our complaint, so thank you!

Great evening meal, staff were welcoming and friendly. Food was great. Good selection of gluten free options for main courses. Nice atmosphere.

Can get really busy but I think the staff manage really well regardless. They are always friendly and do their best. Food is good too. It's the kind of quality you would get in such a place that has to manage lots of customers so decent and tasty big meals but not incredible. Food service is always fast too and comes out without a fault. Top supply of local beers and bar snacks!

We stopped off here for a coffee and light lunch. The service was friendly and welcoming. We sat outside because we were with our dogs, who were made equally welcome, with plenty of water bowls available. The coffee was excellent, but the food was a little disappointing; a particularly dry Cumberland sausage, likely cooked some hours earlier, and very well done chips, which were ok if you like them crunchy. I enjoyed the coleslaw, and as I said, we can’t fault the service.

What a beautiful location, sit outside in the sunshine with a beer and soak in the divine views of Old Man Coniston. Stopped in for some Sunday lunch on a beautiful day, was surprisingly quiet. Food was tasty and reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and the pub was nice and clean! Coniston is a gorgeous village to explore with ample walking options and natural beauty all around you!
