About us

A MODERN COACHING INN

In many ways The Crown Inn epitomises the best of all worlds. Steeped in history – it is National Heritage Grade II listed and over 400 years old in parts – beautifully complemented by Ilse Crawford’s sleek modern design, contemporary comforts like air conditioning and the most comfortable mattresses many of our guests have ever slept on.

Soon after arriving you’ll realise it’s no wonder Amersham, and The Crown in particular, has been chosen as the location for much filming over the years. Most famously, Hugh Grant and Andie MacDowell spent a night in one of our Courtyard Suites in “Four Weddings and a Funeral”.

The beating heart of Old Amersham, which itself benefits from a truly rural feel, being surrounded by the idyllic Chiltern hills but still a mere 45 minutes by train to central London, we are spoilt by all the choice of dining you could wish for: from casual pub grub to Michelin starred fine-dining at the Artichoke, or Indian cuisine curated by twice Michelin starred chef Atul Kochhar at Hawkyns, within The Crown itself.

Come and explore the stories The Crown has to tell, visit Amersham’s fantastic museum or extensive collection of boutique shops on the High Street, all within easy walking distance; Go walking in the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; Use us as a base for day trips to London, or an event at Wembley; Or just relax in sophisticated luxury so you can feel refreshed when you reluctantly return to the real world. Either way, we look forward to welcoming you soon.

Getting Here:

Old Amersham is located at the end of the Metropolitan Line, 50 minutes from London and 25 minutes from Heathrow by car, with easy access to the M40. There are regular and direct trains and tubes from Amersham to London Marylebone taking 35 minutes.

Please be aware that we are now operating ANPR in our customer car park. Please ensure that you register your vehicle at reception for the full duration of your stay with us.

Went in for a drink on Sunday afternoon the bar girl was so grumpy she caused an atmosphere. The Dj was so loud we couldn't talk. Won't be rushing back I think you don't want new customers just happy with wot you have

Went to private party there in the function room which was really nice. But sadly not enough chairs and tables in there so people could sit, this may have been because there was a band playing on that particular night. The bar is also a bit limited with there only being a limited selection of beers and no draught bitter. But the staff were excellent and welcoming and if the pub supplied the buffet that was amazing. A really good night had there.
