Situated in the picturesque 'black and white village of Ombersley, only three minutes outside of Worcester. This former Coaching Inn has a fantastic history dating back to the 17th Century & is the latest addition to the scoff & quaff group.
The Crown and Sandys ( pronounced Sands ) is derived from the link between King Charles l and his son Charles ll and the Sandys family during the civil wars of 1645-57. The coaching inn underwent considerable alteration around 1810 when the Marchioness of Downshire Baroness Sandys carried out extensive re building improvements on the village of Ombersley.
The Crown and Sandys welcomes you with a mixture of old & new. 5 different dining areas, each with a different ambiance & style offer the perfect place to relish our sumptuous menus, superb wines & great service.
Wonderful food and the restaurant area was lovely. Only downside was very poor parking from lots of people! And service was a little slow, but there were two large groups for a party so likely why.
Fabulous lunch today, fish sharing platter. Desert was lush, cheese board would have fed a family. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was very comfortable. Can't wait to return.
A busy Sunday lunch we called in on spec but no problem: cleaned and relaid a table in a jiffy and then the most gorgeous home cooked food - sea bass tagliatelle with crab - delicious! Polite and friendly staff who all knew what they were doing working like a well oiled machine - spot on for food and service.
We had a lovely lunchtime meal here. The set menu was excellent value and the food was great. Staff were friendly and we were served quickly. A nice, quiet, historic place to eat in a village location.
Totally thrilled with every element of our party last night. 36 people for a sit down meal in the orangery, for a surprise retirement party the food was really amazing, served beautifully, very efficient and brought out lovely & hot. All the staff, but in particular Jack were fabulous, so friendly and attentive throughout & couldn’t do enough for us, which really added to making our night so special We booked 3 rooms for an overnight stay, our room was huge, and very comfortable. The breakfast (which was gorgeous ) was all set out waiting for us and again, nothing was too much trouble even though, the staff were also setting up for a wedding, we were all left to take as much time as we wanted. The bacon & sausage were the best I’ve ever tasted. All in all it was excellent & I’m delighted to highly recommend the Crown & Sandy’s in every way.
