Large roadside inn on A59 close to Leeds - Liverpool canal and Pennine Way. The comfortable L-shaped main bar has exposed stonework, some timber beams and a homely real fire in winter. The large outdoor seating area is a pleasant place to while away a summer's afternoon or evening. Quiz night first Monday of the month from 8 pm. Monthly live music. There is also a function room that can hold 130 people or 60 seated. In addition to extensive menu, bacon butties are available 11.30-2.30, afternoon teas and scones are served and speciality coffees are available all day. Regular guest ales often include a Stout or Porter.
Dead good! Steak and ale pie for about £10, proper pie, clearly homemade and the gravy was delicious. Big portions too! They take a while to serve but it's a lovely comfy warm pub and they're really friendly. Highly recommended.
Great way to dine in a lovely Yorkshire pub! Just above the canal, in the middle of the lovely countryside! The staff was lovely! The food was tasty.. What more can you say? Great pub!
Used to come here alot as a child, i remember being able to get to the canal without having to go thru the pub? However i did used to go when it was daytime. Couldnt see a path anywhere this time?
Lovely food and surroundings! Only problem is cash only and not stated on entering
We had a great meal here. Food was hot and delicious, served quickly and with a smile. We got there about 5.30 so it wasn't massively busy, but by the time we left there were big groups of locals in eating and drinking, the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. I would definitely return.

A famous landmark in these parts! The Tempest Arms is set in rolling countryside close to the beautiful Yorkshire Dales and is at the gateway to the pretty hamlet of Elslack.

The Bull at Broughton has long been one of Yorkshire's landmark pubs...famous as much for its hospitality as it is for its beautiful location on the Broughton Hall Estate.
