We had a Sunday Roast here today. It was for a group of 4 and a last minute plan, it was nice & busy but managed to get space in the bar for lunch. Service was only given 4 stars due to little longer than average wait at bar to order food & drinks, as the bar staff were clearly working as efficiently as they could with the volume of customers at the bars at time of our arrival. However they saw we were waiting & apologised for the wait and would come to us as soon as able. Which they did. Sunday roasts were pork for my party & mushroom & Stilton Wellington for me. It was lovely. Very tasty and portion size just right rather than being too large as often is in pub/restaurant venues. My friends reported the pork was tender. The wait for food was not long considering busyness of venue and serving staff helpful, professional in their service. We finished and then went onto order dessert which again was very pleasant. Having crumble, chocolate brownie & cheesecake between us. Overall the food was very good, service was professional and venue of this age very nice. The team could do with more staff for Sunday service but this could be due to reasons unknown to us. Hotel was clean & tidy with nice ambience. Toliets clean & tidy. I have read other recent reviews and cannot say I experienced the same as they have. I would recommend this place for a visit and will visit again in the future.

No Beef, no chicken, no steak, no salmon, no lamb shank. 1:15 Sunday. Do I need to say anything else? 😂 I'd have found it pretty funny if I wasn't so hungry. Very very poor.

Disappointing! Food was below average we didn’t stay for desert! Such a shame as this pub could be an absolute banger. Service was not good at all, not felt welcomed. Placed right next to the till area and entrance to kitchen, with conversations taking place that should have been in private. But also table so close it was Off putting! Waiter had a cough which he did apologise for but again all too close yet loads of tables empty so why we had to sit right in top of till and entrance to the kitchen I don’t know. All 3 staff looked busy yet only a dozen people eating, food took a long time to come although we were told there was only one chef on duty. But the food wasn't great, below average, steak looked liked it had been trimmed! Burger looked flat an unappealing, small portions. Just an all round disappointment and certainly not the pub I remember it being. Shame! Won’t be returning anytime soon. Shame as I wanted it to be the perfect meal out with the family.

Stopped here for lunch on Boxing day and were thrilled to find somewhere open! Loads of room for parking. Looked nice on entering and our waiter Dave was super friendly and nice. But the food was just awful. Cold egg. Beans that had hardened in a ball shape and banged out in a solid lump from the small bowl they were served in. Cold toast. Mushrooms looked so old. My son had pasta which looked like it had been sitting out for an age (the sauce came separately, weird). It was hard, not undercooked but cooked and then left for too long. Some unpeeled veg that anyone else would have thrown out for being grotty. He didn't eat it. I didn't blame him. Walls have leak stains and toilet seats were not connected properly, falling off each side of the toilet. Unfortunately the whole place, and the food, needs some attention. Such a shame as what was on offer on the menu looked great! We paid. I regretted that after we left. Certainly won't be coming back and wouldn't recommend it.

A group of us book a table once a month. We went beginning of December as usual. Unfortunately, although it wasn't particularly busy, the service was soooo slow. We got to the point, we weren't going to wait any longer, as some of the party have long drives to get home. We approached a member of staff and explained this. We asked that as we hadn't received the desserts & everything was taking so long (they couldn't tell us how long the desserts would be?) we asked that we could have the bill & go. We were told that we would have to pay for three courses because that was what we ordered. We argued the point, because the food was taking so long, we hadn't had the dessert & they couldn't tell us how long it would be? Asked for the manager to be told the lady was a manager. I think she's in the wrong job. It's supposed to be hospitality! We won't be back. They've lost out on a good regular booking once a month & we always ensured our normal waitress got a good tip.
