Sadly, cask beer is very much in decline in London. I could count on two hands the number of places where you a guaranteed an excellent pint of cask. Craft Beer co St Mary Axe is one of them. Come for the superb cask beers.
Friendly from the time we walked in to the time I left. Very knowledgeable and gave great advice. Fantastic selection of craft beers and ciders. Will definitely be frequenting again.
One day the stars will align and I will get here when they have a big impy stout or two on, but until then I will come back and enjoy a very broad selection of delicious craft beers. Friendly service, very cool leather sofa seats in the basement, and great copper panel ceiling that creates a great atmosphere.
The Craft Beer Co is an independent chain of craft beer pubs in London, this pub being "St Mary Axe", which is just a short walk from Aldgate tube station. Nice place with a limited cask selection, but plenty of kegged beers are available. Very friendly barman who will give you tips and let you try beers first, comfy enough for to linger for a couple of hours. Once office hours in he neighbourhood have ended it can get very busy and quite loud, too (The English have a higher threshold for noise than us Germans). Prices are elevated but certainly not outrageous for London. There's a lounge area on a lower floor. Solid craft beer pub in the Tower Hamlets area.
Hit this place up on a Wednesday afternoon / evening. Good selection of beer obviously, but as a Cider drinker, there was still a good choice. Nice environment, knowledgeable bar staff and plenty of space at the time we were there. Would go again.
