In 1844, the country's first hydropathic hotel, The Benrhydding was built on the site of The Cow and Calf. In 1873 the building became a private residence called Highfield House, then in 1949 it became a boarding house.
When visiting The Cow and Calf, look out for great views across Wharfedale and historic features, like the old Victorian well that still sits in the grounds.

Booked, seated early at a very busy time in a perfect spot for our party of 8. Raachel was the most lovely and attentive member of staff, nothing too much trouble. Food allergies were duly noted. Everything was excellent value and of a great standard. Our first experience and we thoroughly recommend.

Brilliant service. We stayed when away for a wedding at Tithe Barn and this was the perfect place to stay. Great pub with crackling fires and comfy, clean bedrooms. Lovely and very helpful staff - and delicious breakfasts! Highly recommend staying. P.S. get the full cooked breakfast, it’s delicious!
Great place with great vibe and great food! We got mushroom and cheese as appetiser and Sunday Trio which was a very excellent Sunday Roast. Everything tasty and compliment each other! Place close to the Ilkley moor so you’ll also have a great scenery.
Stayed here for two nights and the view is insane! Both my rooms where spotless,cosy and comfortable. (Booked another night separately) The food is lovely, it is on the pricey side. Loved my Vanilla iced latte one of the best I have had! Big private spacious Car park.
