Situated in the Heart of North Berwick, The County Hotel is a fantastic place to stay when visiting the area. With its 10 bedrooms it is large enough to accommodate groups but small enough to maintain it's friendly traditional seaside hotel style atmosphere. We think you will love it here as many of our guests return. The locals also frequent the bar and restaurant areas contributing to the hotels friendly atmosphere.

Hotel lovely, Staff excellent . Only two things could have been better. Food was cold on two occasions, This was quickly rectified. The only heating in the bathroom was the heated towel rail,and I did not find the bathroom warm enough to bath or shower. My daughter did find it warm enough to shower both days. Pool and gym were great. We would definitely love to stay again.
This is a beautiful hotel with stunning views of the sea. The food and cocktails were fantastic. The room was well equipped with a comfortable bed, large TV, toiletries, bathrobe and slippers, and a coffee machine. The gym and spa facilities are good but spa treatments could do with improvement.
It is dishonest to describe yourself as a 5 star hotel on Google Maps when your official tourist board rating is 4 stars (see the hotel's page on the Visit Scotland's website). If the hotel informs me this has been amended, then I will remove this section of the review and increase the rating accordingly. The hotel is a grand historic building in the beautiful town of North Berwick. The interior has been recently renovated, and the reception/lounge area is impressive with a beautiful sea view. The rest of the building is relatively mediocre, and the style of the deluxe bedrooms was overpowering. The staff were nice enough, but a lot of them seemed lacking in training or experience. The leisure centre had very good facilities, and the breakfast was relatively decent. However, the £35pn dog charge is significantly higher than similar hotels, yet nothing was provided I wouldn't have already expected. It felt like the hotel should be incredible, but it was slightly lacking in too many areas, and probably not worth the price, even with the 30% autumn discount. That said, it is still a good hotel with good facilities and outstanding sea views.
The reception staff were welcoming and friendly on arrival. We had a sea view room with a very comfortable bed. Only criticism would be is that the shower did not have a good water flow and only 4 hangers supplied. Restaurant staff at dinner and breakfast very efficient and friendly. Would be better to serve potatoes/ vegetables with main courses rather than having to purchase additional side dishes. The food was very nice. See comments below regarding dogs.
We had our wedding here in July 2023 - it was perfect! We couldn't recommend the hotel more highly. North Berwick is a beautiful part of the country and having the hotel just back from the beach makes for incredible views. All of the hotel staff are incredible, so helpful to us and all of our guests. The rooms, food and drinks and service are always 5 star! Gina, Megan (both of them!) and Debbie in events were a dream to work with, they helped us bring our dream wedding to life, nothing was too much hassle and they made us feel so special. Additionally, we have stayed in the hotel many times, and have always thoroughly enjoyed our stays. It's the perfect getaway!
