Set against the gorgeous backdrop of the County Durham countryside, The Old Mill boasts a beautiful restaurant serving fresh, homemade dishes with locally sourced ingredients seven days a week. Our light and airy conservatory restaurant allows for gorgeous views of the countryside and wildlife whilst you eat and relax, whilst the neighbouring bar with its traditional log fire and wooden beams is the perfect place to unwind after a long day.
Enjoy a drink outside by the stream and feel yourself unwind as the water ambles under the bridge whilst you watch the resident family of deer nibbling in the grounds, or enjoy a candle-lit meal for two followed by bubble-bath and a glass of wine in one of our luxurious guest rooms.
The restaurant is open from 1200-2100, seven days a week serving fresh home-made food, prepared from locally sourced ingredients, we also offer a full á la carté menu, Sunday roasts, afternoon teas, alongside a lighter lunch and a sandwich menu.
Children are always welcome and we offer smaller portions and children’s menus.

What a fantastic inn this is. Steeped in history. The host and staff were excellent. Food was of a high standard with great service. Some have mentioned that it needs a deep clean. With raging coal fires and the history what do some expect. Visit and be part of it.
Fanatic looking pub/restaurant goregous inside...food was.. fine nice size portions Taking into consideration they are really understaffed and I think only one chef.
Great place to stay if you're up this part of the country... Friendly service, helpful and genuinely here to please... Good selection of beers on tap and food excellent and reasonably priced... Probably my 5th stay and will no doubt be staying again.... Xxx
Beautiful location, and a nice old pub. Food was very nice and very reasonably priced. Good service generally, but staff were disengaged, a smile might have been nice.... 🙄🙄
Amazing location... It's definitely a hidden gem! I had my wedding here, and the service and food were second to none! The manager went above and beyond to make our day so special nothing was a bother. The staff were impeccable! Smiles all round, we are always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. The staff are very warm and inviting. Again nothing seemed to be a bother to them and they were happy to help even if theu were busy they made time to help. I highly recommend this place for events or just for a chill on a sunny afternoon! Family run, very clean, warm, and friendly. In the winter, they have fairy lights up and an open fire perfect for those cold winter nights. Also, the blue cheese sauce 😋 to die for!
