This pub was once a branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland, having first opened as a bank in 1856.
This impressive building was originally designed by George Angus and modified by William Scott. It was reconstructed by Robert Gibson in the 1930s and then described as a notable example of modern banking architecture. Customers entered his new-look bank via a revolving door, crossed a terrazzo marble floor and were served at handsome mahogany counters topped with shiny bronze grilles.

A typical spoons pub. Plenty of drinks selections at very competitive price. It’s on a great location in the centre of Dundee and looks out onto the McManus Galleries. Staff here are all pretty fast at serving and there’s plenty of seating available. Nice and warm inside even on freezing cold days.
City centre spoons. Dirt cheap dunks and food prices in particular the drink/meal combos. Large beer garden opposite the old library next to the huge Robert Burns statue. Mixture of clientele from students to old men playing cards in the corner. Plenty of staff to serve you fast.
Big restaurant, where almost everything is possible. Delicious food, plenty kinds of meals, portions for everybody. Easy procedure for order. If you want, you choose anything at the pult and they bring it. If you want, you can choose food or drink in application, you pay and they bring it. You have more time for deciding, you can thinking about. If you order coffee or tea, they bring you empty cup and you serve yourself. Many brands alcohol free beers. Good choice for me, for couples, for friends, students and also for people all ages. The game machines can disturb you. Almost always it is crowded, but always you can find a table for your friends or group.
It’s centrally located near the shopping area. We had a lovely late lunch and food is freshly prepared and delicious. The service staff is friendly and efficient during our visit! Plenty of seating options and nice decor throughout 👍🏻🎄
