This is a gastropub in the true sense of the word! Located close to Totnes the pub was originally licensed in 1320 AD! The timber trusses and architecture were authentic from that era giving a feeling of historic significance. We arrived for lunch on a Friday and the staff took our drinks order promptly and were speedy with delivery of our food. Our table ordered a couple of burgers, steak & ale pies with deep fried camembert wedge starters + all of which hit the spot. The scallop mounted pork belly starter was very high quality & would sit comfortably on a fine dining restaurant menu. Sticky toffee pudd/coffee completed our meal. Chef came out of kitchen & had a quick chat to get some feedback on quality which is always a good sign that kitchen is listening to consumers. If we lived nearby this would be our local watering hole! Highly recommended
Stunningly beautiful building, nice pub room, terrific staff. Food is top notch, all local and top quality. Great all round. We love it, have eaten there on 3 occasions and stayed there twice. We'll definitely be back.
We went for dinner last night. Delicious food and very pleasant, efficient service. I had a seafood chowder and the mussels were obviously very fresh, plump and tasty. Good value too.
Food always delicious! Great variety, catering to meat dishes, vegan and vegetarian. Lovely and warm atmosphere, especially in the marquee, with the lights and heaters. Staff exceptional. Definitely recommended.
Absolutely superb food, if the Korean spiced cauliflower is on the menu you must try it! Did not stay so I cannot comment on the rooms but the pub has a great atmosphere and the service is great but not intrusive. Not the cheapest but very much worth what you pay.
