We arrived to be pushed into a back cold room because we had small dog Seated right by busy bar. I have terminal cancer and get cold With my 90 year old Mum husband and disabled sister. So dissapointed. Food all over cooked Worse I'm vegetarian so couldn't eat my food. Never come again. Such a shame, staff serving food very kind
The service was excellent, the carvery was average...the stuffing was so hard it was impossible to eat it. The cauliflower cheese was luke warm...the roast potatoes were excellent so was the swede unfortunately not much of it also the sprouts were a bit thin on the ground....we arrived a little late , about 2pm,so I will go again, but a bit earlier, hopefully the standard of the food will be better. I hope so as the place was recommended and we traveled down from Dartmoor.
The Victoria Inn, is brilliant, the staff are very friendly and helpful, the food was excellent, and the Inn is very good value for money. But, and there is always a but, the room was ok, but the smell in the bathroom was so overpowering, it made my wife sick. We had to go and buy air fresheners to put in the bathroom to stop the smell, which we assumed came up from the kitchen below our room. So as much as we loved your pub, we won't be coming back
Haven't been for a while and went for Christmas dinner. Turkey meat nice beef and pork awful. But what really let it down was the over cooked tastless veg. Went in 1st sitting all food looked and tasted reheated. No seasoning just very over cooked. Very disappointed as a special gathering. Also had starter and this was over cooked little side of wilted salad and a plop of garlic mayonnaise. The place has been done up since I last went and looks nice but food has gone down hill plus price gone up but you expect that these days.
Had a delicious carvery here and couldn't fault anything from the ease of online booking, through to parking. Service was excellent and the carvery left nothing to be desired, oh perhaps some English mustard. Large choice of meats, delicious and extensive choice of vegetables, plus Yorkies and stuffing. Drinks were good quality too. No room for a pud, but the display looked terrific, as did the other meals and we'll be back before we leave the area.
