Stumbled across this pub whilst working locally in the area, that good, we went twice in two nights, fish and chips were that good, I had them twice, in two nights! Standard of food is belting, cannot recommend enough....if It wasn't an 8 hr drive from my house id probably go there twice a week 😂

Top marks for this authentic old Cornish village pub. The food menu is A1 pub grub with loads of unique items thrown in…. ‘Chip shop curry sauce’, which we tried with their excellent home made chips. They offer ‘Irish curry sauce’ aswell which will be tried on our next visit. We took full advantage of the January ‘2 steaks for £20’ and… WOW! Also had the lamb shank with mash & tenderstem broccoli off the extensive specials board for about £17. 3 of us ate a main course, added an extra chips and curry sauce and had a couple of drinks each for about £70, not a chance of fitting pudding in but next time I go I’ll make sure that I’ve skipped breakfast that morning! Other positives were…. really friendly and outgoing staff, pool table, dart board, really dog friendly, log fires and it also had a seperate restaurant. This place is such a great find as we are always passing through on the A30. If you want some real home cooked food that isn’t the usual pub chain stuff then head here and you won’t be disappointed.

Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch beside the log burner. The Steak & Kidney pie was delicious! Friendly welcoming staff, nothing was too much trouble. We won't be waiting another 7 years to visit this lovely pub.

We stayed at Hallagenna Cottages and were recommended this place by the others. It certainly didn't disappoint! We visited the pub three times in the week, and this should say it all! A brilliant selection of food and drink. The portions were huge and, at times 'Man Vs Food' size. We ordered Chips and onion rings as side dishes and feel these were the equivalent of a whole packet of both! A great selection of beers and ales and great prices too. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming! A gem of a pub.

We found this pub on Google maps and what a find. Not only the highest pub in Cornwall, probably the oldest (11th century). The staff are very welcoming. Extensive menu, food was delicious 😋. Would fully recommend. The dogs loved it too! Will definitely return. Thank you, Denise, Richard, Ziggy and Poppy x
