A bit tired but a lovely historical property. The owners should put some investment into revamping it but the rooms are clean, it is ideally situated and the staff are very friendly. Will stay there again if I return to Penzance
Good night out watching Blonde E. Lux, local tribute/cover band they definitely made the night. Atmosphere was excellent and the staff were good, we will return.
What can I say about the Union. It's a hidden gem in Penzance. My husband and I had our wedding reception here back in October, and from the moment we spoke to the lovely manager Jo about hosting our event, to the day after our wedding, we experienced a fantastic level of professionalism and excitement. Jo and her team were so welcoming and accommodating to all our questions and needs for the wedding, and they went above and beyond all our requests. It was one of the best evenings of our lives, and we are so happy that we used the Union. The hotel is currently going through a huge decoration effort, and our room was clean, comfortable and quiet. The food was great on the day, and the chef absolutely blew me away with the full English the next morning. 100% would recommend the Union.
This is not a good place to stay due to my bad experience. We booked their hotel and agreed with them that due to tube strike our train had to reach Penzance at 12:35am, and the hotel agreed to wait there to check in for us, but by the time we reached the hotel entrance (at 12:40am) the hotel was empty and the door was locked. We were forced to sleep on the street for the night. Not only that, but the hotel also backtracked and said that we were the ones who arrived too late and did not gave us any refund.
We've lived in Penzance for years and have ignored the Union because the atmosphere is a little... quiet when you look in. But they actually have a nice outdoor space which whilst not necessarily beautiful, is secluded and a great retreat away from the busy high street. I also noted that the prices are pretty good too! I'd wager they certainly have the cheapest pints on Chapel Street.
