This is The Old Coastguard, a seaside hotel in the fishing village of Mousehole, near the beaches and gardens of West Cornwall, the Minack Theatre and the artists' studios of Newlyn, Penzance and St. Ives.
Fourteen bedrooms, nearly all looking out over glistening Cornish inland waters, with views to St. Michael's Mount and the Lizard. And a dining room and outside terrace sitting atop a tropical garden that slopes down to the harbour wall.
Ever since we came to West Penwith in 2006, we have loved its slower pace of life, an opportunity for our guests to beat a retreat from everyday 'civilisation'.
We will work hard with our team here to help you relax and unwind, sleeping in comfortable beds and eating simple, well executed food that runs with the rhythms of the season and the coastal landscape.
We want The Coastguard to be at the centre of its local community with beer and drinks prices set for its regular customers, not the incoming tourists.
We're open every day and all year at The Old Coastguard: please do come and visit us and bring along your friends, dogs or children.

Make to feel unwelcome, visited over New Years and dropped in with the intention of having a drink and some food. No one around to greet or talk too as we entered, so found an empty table (table had no reserve signs unlike other). My partner went off to the bar, upon settling in and waiting for our drinks the manager comes over and rudely states you must move now I need the table. Slightly offended at his tone, I asked politely if there were any free tables his response I don't know and stormed off. Very unprofessional, cancelled our drink order and left, lost out on our trade and 4 other members of our group who were due to arrive shortly. Went to a nice Cafe by the Quay instead.
Lovely little pub hidden away with a fantastic view overlooking the sea. Great selection of drinks (slightly more expensive than other local pubs) very friendly staff and real nice seating area. Perfect for a quiet drink :-)
The Bar is a hidden gem in Mousehole it’s beautiful and very relaxing best for drinks In the area. However let down by a drunk kitchen staff member (guy with the beard) drinking at the bar making bird noises at customers. Not what you would expect in a nice place like this and not really acceptable.
Had lunch - great food, really worth the trip/extra stop. Lovely terrace/garden that rolls down to the sea> Dog friendly, really welcoming. Service - honestly felt very slow and disinterested. Possibly understaffed.
World-class food with a beautiful view overlooking the sea-front. Atmosphere was very warm and inviting, made even better by the exceptional service standard from the waiting staff. We absolutely enjoyed every course - the Cod was slightly on the edge of overcooked but can overlook this given the rest of the meal was outstanding. Thank you such a memorable meal in Cornwall.

Traditional Cornish style pub. Most of the pub is given over to the restaurant, but there is also a snug bar. Delicious food, real ale. Sit outside and watch life in the town square go by.
