Went for a drink with friends, the sportsman's Arms is a sports pub with a large screen TV showing the current sport. We were able to sit away from the screen and talk amongst ourselves. Dog friendly.
We’ve been into The Sportsman’s Arms on a number of occasions but Saturday 2nd September was the first time that we had eaten there. We booked a table for 4 and as usual, we were warmly welcomed. The menu was lovely and there was something for everyone. We ordered baked Camembert to share and some crispy chilli beef as starters. There was the option of freshly made pizza on that evening, which 3 of us had and I can honestly say it was amongst the very best pizza I’ve eaten. Perfectly cooked, slightly crispy underneath and generously topped…… delicious! As we were all hungry we ordered a side of chips for the table too. Our eyes were very much bigger than our bellys and we ended up with boxes of pizza to take away. Excellent service, excellent selection of beers and spirits, excellent food. We will definitely eat here again.
Very warm welcome from bar staff and strangers alike, great selection of fine beers 🍻 and a beautifully selected menu which is perfect, the food is absolutely amazing and the mains are suitable for the heartiest of appetites. I would recommend this place as its down to earth and doesn't pretend to be something it's not, genuine honest people and fine foods and drink, please visit the sportsmans Arms you will not be disappointed
I would have put more stars as we were warmly welcomed on Sat 29th July where staff & locals were really friendly & asked if we could watch F1 on the Sunday which the landlady said was fine but unfortunately the barmaid said she didnt want it on....we were disappointed as there were 4 of us that would have eaten & obviously had a drink or 3!
Small, friendly, very welcoming pub, great atmosphere, great service and amazing food. The wife thought she'd have something light and went for the fish and chips, it came out and it was a whale and the portion and half of chips, OMG, she managed it all, I had the rump steak (rare) and it was cooked to perfection, one of the best meals we have eaten out in a long time.
