Whilst the food was enjoyable, and the staff incredibly nice and friendly, the service was exceptionally slow. Multiple times we had to check on the status of food and drinks we'd ordered. I believe we waited 45 mins for the deserts to come out. Now, whether there was a lack of staff in the kitchen or front of house, I'm not sure. I'm sympathetic to a busy shift having spent many years in the service industry myself, however there are better ways to handle the long periods of waiting between courses and even simple rounds of drinks. A "sorry this is taking so long, we're short staffed but we'll be right with you" just once would have made us not feel so forgotten. Again I'd like to reiterate though the staff, when we did see them, we're very nice and personable. No complaints there. And bar the slightly overcooked burgers, the food went down a treat.
Visited for lunch. Staff were friendly and welcoming. It was busy, being near Christmas, but we didn't feel rushed. The carvery was tasty and a great selection of veggies. Also tried the sticky toffee pudding, which I recommend. The open fireplace was a bonus that the dog enjoyed along with biscuits and a blanket. I'll happily visit again.
Great find. First visit for us whilst on holiday. Lateish lunch/ early evening meal. Chose Mixed Grill with Jacket potato and lite Scampi. Tribune Shandy and Appetizer to drink. All staff we interacted with were friendly and looked after us well. We enjoyed the old style interior which was relaxing & comfortable. We would certainly recommend.😊
Absolutely brilliant carvery on Sunday, really welcoming and friendly staff despite the fact they were rushed off their feet. Highly recommend!
A lovely little cosy pub that is dog friendly, it even supplies dog blankets. Not expensive but a very warm lovely English pub. The food was nice and was the cask ale. We will be definitely coming back
