About us

The warm and inviting atmosphere is so apparent that you cannot help but grin on entering - a "must" for anybody from the local, to the business associate to family diners.

Our premises are fully air-conditioned. The Cock and Lion has a ground floor bar and a function room with a bar upstairs. We have three large TV's with Sky sports. We Cater For Business Lunches, Parties and Special Occasions. Our extensive menu's offers something for everyone, all day, seven days a week. we are very dog friendly.

There is only one Cock and Lion in the whole of the United Kingdom

We are also uniquely situated on one of Londons most historic sites. This area was settled in Roman times and the corner of Wigmore Street and Marylebone lane beside the old River Tyburn. The river flows south from Hampstead through Marylebone and crosses Oxford Street near the bottom of Marylebone Lane, on it’s way down to the Thames. At the point where the river crosses Oxford Street was the village of Tyburn notorious from the 14th to 17th century for it’s connection with gallows. Boswell and Dr. Johnson would have visited this area as we know from their writing. Many infamous heads have rolled at these gallows including highwaymen, common miscreants and thieves, courtiers and clergy.

Awfully disappointing. We booked a Christmas dinner in advance and it was a miserable experience. Overall it took 3hr 15min and it took around 90 min before we got any food. I imagine this is not a representative of Christmas dinner at a pub. And probably they were having some issues in the back of the house. The food overall was mixed, some decent and some awful. We never got our food at the same time so we were never eating at the same time. We would have left if we hadn't made a deposit for the evening. The kids were bored and hungry. They never came to check on the drinks while we long waited for our food. There were angry tables all around, living through the same frustrating experience. And there was no attempt to make it right at the end. No comps although there were comps for other tables.

This place is absolutely amazing. We were walking around looking for a place to go and came across this place and they had a table so we sat down and the place was full of locals. The food was great. The beer was great and one of our party wanted a tea so the owner went upstairs to her flat and made one for her awesome customer service.

The best: It's crew and the ambient. Great place to watch a match while having dinner and/or just enjoy a pint. Not the fanciest pub in London yet a pub I'll definitely go back. Update: the ambient keeps no being incredible but if you come can’t not order the hummus (a bit spicy ;) it goes along soooo well with a guiness, just saying :)

£15.50 for very 3 small slices of Halloumi with garnish size salad, ordered from the ‘large plate’ section on menu…. A JOKE!! barmaid even feels awkward delivering it, Also waited 40min for this disgrace if a salad. Plenty of better options in the area.

Stopped off for a quick drink in the "only pub on Wigmore St." Very small one room bar. Had a Butcombe beer all the way from Somerset. OK. Madge is a little miffed by the service. Barmaid makes Flatima look like a saint. No cider. Flat Coke.
