This was formerly the Clifton Cinema, opened in May 1937 by Captain Sidney Clift, the founder of the chain of Black Country cinemas bearing his name. The Sedgley Clifton, with seating for more than 1,000, was one of the 1930s super-cinemas, so luxurious they were dubbed ‘Picture Palaces’. The opening programme’s main feature was San Francisco, starring Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy, and Jeanette MacDonald. In spite of diversifying into pop and variety shows, the Sedgley Clifton screened its last film in 1978.
Best place to eat and drink and staff appear friendly and approachable the atmosphere is very charming and fabulous mirrors ❤️ wish thay sell me one 😂 so please go there ❤️💋💋💋
Had a family Christmas get together today. The staff, service, food and atmosphere were second to none. Thank you Rachel, River and the whole team for making it so special. Nothing is ever too much trouble and no matter how busy you all are you’ve all got a smile and make people feel welcome.
Dropped into the Clifton for a quick breakfast. Food arrived very quickly and tasted great. Staff were also friendly and polite. For the price point, you can't beat it.
Atmosphere has changed loads over the last 18 months, services is more efficient even with a smile, not always received in other spoons. The food was good for pub grub. See ya again soon,
Drinks are good at night but the breakfast isn't great. Came out cold and just wasn't enjoyable, got the staff to blast it in the kitchen to heat it up but still wasn't the best however they gave a full refund and were helpful. Food did come quick and staff were nice. I've eaten here previously and it's been fine it was just this time really
