About us

Our extensive menu offers a vast and varied choice of freshly prepared dishes using only the finest ingredients.

We are very passionate about food and many of our ingredients are locally sourced as we work alongside local retailers large and small to source the freshest, best quality ingredients our region has to offer.

We also have a choice of daily specials, which give an ever-changing choice to our many loyal customers. Whether it’s an Intimate meal for two or a party to celebrate something special, the Dun Cow offers everything you need to let your hair down and relax in style.

We have six guest bedrooms which are tastefully and traditionally decorated to reflect the style and country charm of the establishment. The rooms are available for short stays or longer breaks and are equally attractive to the business client or those looking to get away for a relaxing break.

After a sudden death in the family and just before Christmas the manager Richard with short notice fitted in our family wake at what was a very busy time in their diary My daughters also booked into the rooms above the pub. We all experienced what must be said as the most attentive and sensitive experiance from all the staff and all should be commended, our daughters will definitely be staying again at the Dun cow Inn, can not recommend highly enough, Well done to all...oh and the food is really good too ! We booked two rooms at the Dun Cow Inn. It looked like a typical English pub which it was. Our rooms were disappointing to say the least. In one of the rooms the bathroom door had see-through glass panels offering no privacy (an issue for two teenage siblings !). The toilet in our other room did not flush. The owner attempted to repair, did his best but was unsuccessful so we were moved to a smaller room (eventually we switched rooms with our kids as the ‘new’ room at least had a curtain over its glass door). Beds were soft and not that comfortable but it was just for one night so not too much of a problem. We didn’t eat there, although the evening fare looked good. The pub was busy, mostly locals, and had a good vibe. We ate at a great Italian restaurant just up the road. Breakfast was too late for our train schedule from Darlington but was pretty much the standard English ’bangers, beans, bacon & egg’ which we had decided to pass on anyway but likely was pretty good.
