About us

Welcome to Rake Hall

Rake Hall in Little Stanney is a magnificent Grade II listed building which originated as a country house, the home of the Bunbury family. It sits on Rake Lane just a stone’s throw (with a good arm) away from the busy Cheshire Oaks shopping 'village', but as it's surrounded by a huge garden you could easily be fooled into thinking you were in the middle of the countryside - so the perfect place to pop your feet up and refuel after a busy 'retail therapy' day.

We have a beautiful Private Dining room that seats 18 overlooking our terrace area and pond. A wonderful room for a small gathering, meeting or celebration and lots of lovely areas and rooms to choose from downstairs if you’d like to be sociable or tuck yourself away by a roaring fire.

Stopped in for lunch on Tuesday. 2 people, 2 courses. 2 glasses of Coke which just tasted of soda water. Starters - 1 x Wild Boar & Rabbit Pasty and 1 x Potted Trout With Crab Butter. The Pasty was tiny. It was more of a canope and appeared to be bought in. The trout lacked seasoning, and could've done with being under the pass lights for a minute or 2 to soften the butter, as unfortunately, it was ice cold and with every bite, you end up with a block of butter in your mouth, which is unpleasant. Main Courses - 1 x Venison Pie With Colcannon Mash and 1 x Hake. The Pie itself was delicious. No fault at all. However, the Colcannon Mash was a let down. The Mashed potatoes tasted like they were bought in, rather than made in house. The Hake was barely even lukewarm and didn't taste fresh, I also pulled 6 bones out of it, so it hasn't been prepped properly either and the samphire was stalky, which is a sign it's old. We also ordered a side of onion rings which were simply disintegrated. No waiting staff checked on either course and didn't even ask when clearing the plates. Poor food and poor service from start to finish and relieved of £76 for the displeasure. Would not recommend or return.

Lovely homemade food. Had nibbles beetroot Hummus with pita, perfectly made with a crunch. We followed with salmon, muscles with potato and samphire. Potato done with capers and dill, perfect blend to enhance the flavour of the salmon. Finished with shared fig pavlova, a little too sweet, lacked balance. Service quick, friendly, and efficient. We'll be back soon.

We’ve been to Rake Hall several times in the last couple of months. The venue is very nice. The food goes a bit out of the usual with pretty interesting options for different tastes. And the staff is helpful and professional. Especial mention today to Lucy, who has gone the extra mile to accommodate the needs of our party.
