From the outside, the pub looks fantastic. Inside not so great. Decor is poor and toilets, let's not go there!. Drinks had to be re done, as alcohol was clearly missing.. bit of a disappointment.
Lovely spot for a pint and some food to meet with your friends. Darts upstairs, comfy seats. Delicious chicken goujons with their bbq sauce.
Great pub with friendly staff. Great choice of gin and beers. We only had 3 starters but they were tasty. Returned for some ice cream which was amazing.
Horrible food. They were out of nearly everything, and what they did have was awful. The mashed potatoes were heavy and rubbery. The cheese toast was soggy. Those of us that ate half our meals felt really rough later. Worst meal during our 3 week trip in the UK. Go somewhere else!!!!
🚇 Tower Hill 🍺 £6.65 Heineken ❤️ A casual atmospheric City boozer. . The Cheshire Cheese is located under the arches of the railway line entering Fenchurch Street Station. Unfortunately, the station doesn’t have a Tube connection, Tower Hill Tube is just a two minute walk away. . There has been a pub on this site since 1600, I can’t seem to find any info from when the current pub was built. Fenchurch Street Station was built in 1841 so maybe around then. . This is a traditionally decorated pub which feels comfortable and welcoming. The bar is a triangular shape with a bright pendant lit servery at the thin end. The seating is all poser tables with a mix of stools and benches to perch on. There are a couple of chain pub features like the faux bookcase and Georgian panel wallpaper to break up the decor. Around the walls are a number of screens which show live Sky & BT sports. There is also an upstairs bar with three dartboards but I didn’t venture up there. . The beer line up was decent and included four cask ales. I had a pint of Heineken, my pint was great but come on guys £6.65 is way over priced. The food menu was British pub grub, Fish & Chips was reasonably priced at £11.99. . I visited on a Saturday afternoon in Spring and arrived in to a chilled and relaxed atmosphere. The backdrop was a soulful and downtempo pop soundtrack which set a pleasant mood. BT sport was on mute so I could catch up with the latest scores around the grounds. The clientele were a mix of day trippers and tourists from America and Spain, all of which seemed to enjoy the pub. During the week this pub gets very busy with suits quaffing post work beers. . Visiting @thecheshirecheesepub was overall a good experience and I loved the atmospheric location. It’s a comfortable casual pub with a nice atmosphere and staff. The beer was good but expensive, the food looked good and was reasonably priced. A good pub for all occasions and definitely worth checking out. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 08.04.23
